Apparently the rumors [0] are true: NBC wants Jimmy Fallon to take over for Conan O'Brien [1] when O'Brien makes his expected move to "The Tonight Show" in 2009. "I think he’d be terrific, and he is at the top of our short list," NBC's late-night chief Rick Ludwin told Broadcasting & Cable magazine.

Back in February, when it was first announced that NBC was pursuing Fallon, I said I hoped NBC would broaden its search a bit, maybe considering Jon Stewart — who later dined with NBC execs [1] — or one of a number of very funny female comedians. But it appears all roads lead back to Fallon, so now I've got to ask you: Do you think he's right for the job?
