When I saw Trucker at the Tribeca Film Festival back in 2008, I acknowledged that it's not the world's finest movie, but it was definitely one of my favorites of all the festival movies I saw. It's a relatively quiet indie drama starring Michelle Monaghan as Diane Ford, a tough truck driver who enjoys her carefree life of trucking, bars and one-night stands — until her 11-year-old son shows up one day. Their relationship is rocky, and Diane is none too pleased to suddenly shoulder so much responsibility, but as long as her ex-husband (Benjamin Bratt) is hospitalized, mother and son are stuck with each other. Nathan Fillion plays her sweet, handsome neighbor and friend who is married but clearly has feelings for Diane.
The film will open Oct. 9. If you like these actors and feel like a sometimes slow and harsh but ultimately warm-hearted drama, you'll likely find Trucker worthwhile. To check out the trailer, read more.

you had me intrigued until you said Benjamin Bratt. He's the guy they call in when no one else would do it.
1The "wise beyond his years" dialogue spouting from the kid's mouth was eye-rolling, but other than that the movie looks fantastic. Michelle Monaghan is amazing, with each successive performance I continue to grow more impressed with her as an actress.
2Looks like my kind of movie though I'll probably wait for Netflix.
3I haven't been that impressed with Monaghan in the past, but she looks like she does a good job here. Though I agree with Linda McP, Netflix for sure.
4I can't stand either of these actors. So its a no!
5Truckers absolutely by far do NOT have carefree lives, lol. That was kind of a stupid career they chose.. They are sleep deprived, overworked, underpaid, and constantly having to deal with not working too many hours, not lying on their books, and making it to their stops on time. Then, at their stop, they often sit there for hours until the business will let them drop the crap off. Off the clock, most often.
I would personally have done a little research with real truck drivers before using that as a wish i could have my old carefree easy life before responsibility job.. ugh.
