In Becoming Jane, Anne Hathaway plays the great Jane Austen during a time in her life that may have influenced the romances in Austen's novels. It's speculated that Austen had some kind of romantic relationship with Irish lawyer Tom Lefroy (played by the adorable James McAvoy in the movie), though ultimately Lefroy married someone else and Austen remained single for the rest of her life. Becoming Jane brings together fact and fiction to imagine what this romance may have been like, while also making allusions to Austen's work. I'm anxious to find out how Hathaway does playing someone so famous and so beloved, so I'll surely be seeing this when it opens next Friday August 3. To watch the trailer, read more

This has been on my summer movie must see list for a while now. I love James McAvoy!
I think Anne Hathaway could certainly pull off this role. But how will we know if she does a good job at it? Is Jane Austen's "persona" well known?
I love Jane Austen. I can't wait.
I can't wait to see this. I've read all of Austen's works.
She certainly has the look. I love me some Jane Austen.
In the movie posters I've seen for this, Anne looks like Audrey Tatou!
The ads for this were all over London when I was there in March...looking forward to finally seeing it!
Anne Hathaway is such a beautiful actress, she has quite a career ahead of her. I love the Jane Austen stories and Anne will do her justice. James McAvoy is no slouch either.
It looks interesting but I'm having a bit of problem with her British accent. Hmm...I don't know.
I really want to see this. This is the first time I've heard of James McAvoy...
what else
is he in?
mandykw — If you haven't seen The Last King of Scotland yet, definitely do so! McAvoy costars with Forest Whitaker and he does an absolutely fantastic job. I hope he gets more and more parts; he's so easy to watch!
ooh! i want to watch this! & i'll watch any movie with a british accent in it, even though anne's is fake .. which i don't like much either, but she's beautiful!
except for that stupid narrator, that movie looks great!
Hahahaha gloss that narrator does not below in this particular movie even if it's only for a preview. made the movie sound like a cheesy chick flick/comedy, which I don't think the film is cheesy at all.
Becoming Jane came out in Australia a few months ago, and being a huge Jane Austen fan I absolutely loved it! It doesn't disappoint.
I can't wait to see this! It looks great! I love Jane Austen and Anne Hathaway!
I love Jane Austen but Anne Hathaway, not so much...but will still go see it...
It looks great! And Jane Austen do remind me of Jane Austen...
I'm on the fence. I like Anne but I don't enjoy period peices.
James was also Mr. Tumnus in the Narnia movie.
The movie looks cute, but I hope the asides to show where her novels came from aren't too cheesy. To be honest, it looks like a trailer for Pride & Prejudice. LoL
it came out here in australia about 7 months ago and let me give you the long and the short of it, go in with low expectations and you will be rewarded. go in with high expectations and you'll be disappointed....greatly.
I'm so looking forward to seeing this.
I will definitely see this movie!!!
looks like a great movie..will check it out!
anne hathaway's british accent sounded a bit cheesy but i'll still watch it either in the theater or on dvd
i thought this already came out??
