Yes, I know I've been paying a tremendous amount of attention to any and all news regarding Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lovely Bones, but as far as book-to-movie projects go, this one is pretty important to me. So, here's the latest in the long string of casting news: Stanley Tucci is in negotiations to play killer George Harvey in the movie, says Hollywood Reporter.
When I was reading the book, I envisioned someone a little more decrepit, someone much closer to Jackie Earle Haley (who played creepy pedophile Ronnie McGorvey in Little Children). However, Tucci often has a commanding and intimidating presence onscreen (he played Nigel in The Devil Wears Prada, among others), and I can easily see him being super scary. What do you think about this latest bit of Lovely Bones news?

This could work!
I think this works. It's not your typical bad guy but Stanley has the chops to pull it off. I'm very impressed with the castings for this movie so far.
I think it works perfect! Im real excited about this!
I think he could do it! He's a very good actor.
Tucci should do well in this role. He's a great actor!
I think he does very well to become the character he's playing; this sounds like perfect casting to me.
He's great in everything. Kevin Spacey would have been a good choice, too. But again I say I hated this depressing book and don't plan to see the movie. I just can't sit through a flick narrated by a dead, raped teen.
Ooh, good choice. I wouldn't of thought of him being cast at all, but I can really see it working.
Jackie Haley was cast perfectly. SOO freaky.
i feel like it might work, but i also thought someone more cryptic and odd would be cast. i feel like an unknown might have even worked well. tucci is a really good actor, so im excited to see how he'lll do.
I like Staney Tucci, this should be interesting. But yeah Jackie would have been creeptastic!
Oh my gosh, yes. I pictured George Harvey a little more gaunt and creepy, but a little makeup will do him up perfectly.
I think this book is amazing and i just hope the movie doesn't dissapoint me.
i pictured this character as a heavy set person, but i agree tucci has big "presence" and is very good in any part he does. sounds good.
when would kevin spacey ever NOT be a good choice for a movie? lol the man is amazing.
My choice for George would have been Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but I think that Tucci will do well, he's just a tad more outwardly creepy than PSH.
this isn't exactly who i pictured either, but i think he could make it work.
