Now, I know a whole lot of you Buzz readers think Seth Rogen is adorable, but this news has me scratching my head. According to the L.A. Times, Rogen is in final negotiations to write the script and star in a Green Hornet movie based on the 1960s TV series (which starred Van Williams, pictured). Here's more:
The studio announced in March that it had optioned the rights to the superhero property that follows the adventures of Brit Reid. A wealthy publisher of The Daily Sentinel by day, Reid roams as a masked crime fighter by night, dedicated to protecting the lives and rights of the city's citizens. Reid is accompanied by Kato, a chauffeur-bodyguard-personal assistant during business hours who transforms into a masked sidekick with a knack for martial arts when the sun goes down. The two cruise around town in a dark sedan known as the Black Beauty.
The article continues to say that over the years rumors of a Green Hornet movie have swirled with various actors reportedly attached, including the likes of George Clooney, Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Wahlberg. See, now, that's the part I'm struggling to understand: How, exactly, did one go from George Clooney to Seth Rogen?!

Stila
Halston
Rebecca Taylor
He's PLAYING the Green Hornet?! I heard he was directing it! I could totally see him directing it.....but starring? yikes.
1Buzz Sugar writer is obviously clueless on movies. Seth Rogen, while not in the classic mold of Cary Grant/Tom Cruise, is in fact attractive enough to carry a small budgeted movie, the premise of which is to win the day with a beautiful woman. Cost of movie $30 million. Gross to date $130 million plus. Buzz Sugar thinks George Clooney would be better as the Hornet? How did ol' George do as Batman? The worst of all Batmans. Clearly, there are people that know when they have an actor that is special, and has qualities that are deeper and richer than just a pretty face.
2What??? I do think he is adorable, but I don't seem him in this type of movie. He will always be the cute funny huggable guy to me!
3I'm skeptical since I've only seen him in comedies... but it's not as bad as the rumors of J-Lo as Wonder Woman.
4Star in one hit movie and suddenly Hollywood thinks he is the new 'it' guy. That's crazy.
5MrObjective, yes, Knocked Up did really well, but the entire movie was based on him being a loser and getting someone out of his league. That's a slightly different character than the Green Hornet haha.
And not only that, George Clooney as the worst Batman ever shouldn't be blamed on George Clooney. The blame rests 100% on Joel Schumacher. Everyone knows Clooney can act, and most people know, Schumacher can't direct.
And I think you give Hollywood too much credit. Unless they make the Green Hornet a comedy, I don't see this going well. He's a character actor.
6When will they learn that the Green Hornet is not a super hero? He has no superpowers and does not wear tights! And the character is not to be played in a comedic vein.
Some how Hollywood keeps trying to make this harder than it is. Think James Bond with a mask and a partner. Not RUSH HOUR!
At least the French go it right in this short film:
