I've said it every week: This year's crop of "So You Think You Can Dance" dancers is good. Really good. But this week, for the first time, I wondered if their overall goodness is making them a little dull. At this point, I feel like I know what to expect from each pair, and even though I love some of the current partnerships (Sabra/Dominic, Lacey/Kameron), I'm ready for things to be shaken up a little.

Talkative Hairspray director Adam Shankman (whose chatty ways I learned about firsthand when I interviewed him recently — check back tomorrow for that) showed up as this week's guest judge. While his rambling comments often rivaled Mary's for sheer length and goofiness, he also offered one interesting bit of commentary on the subject of Danny. Shankman said Danny acts like he's already been named the winner, and he needs to show some humility to go with his fantastic technique. Curiously, there was just a New York Times story on this very topic, asserting that Danny was too good to be on a "talent show" and shouldn't be considered aloof just because he doesn't stoop to mugging for the camera. For my part, I think Danny might be the best dancer in this competition, but I'm not sure I'm seeing the spark that would make him America's favorite dancer. What do you think?
Meanwhile, in another night of goodness, it's hard to pick favorites. Lauren (or should I say "Misha" — how weird was that?) and Neil impressed me this week, thanks to some awesome Wade Robson jazz choreography. Sabra and Dominic were so hot, they were practically on Cinemax. And I have to give a shoutout to Sara and her new partner Pasha for teaming up so well together and delivering a fun West Coast swing number choreographed by none other than reigning dance champ Benji Schwimmer.

I wouldn't be surprised if Danny and Anya end up in the bottom three tonight, despite how strong and talented they both are. Aside from the Great Danny Debate, I think the two of them are almost too precise in their performances, and this time I didn't feel the same connection between them as I usually do. Hok and Jaimie tried hard to sell their waltz, but they couldn't disguise the fact that Hok looked pretty awkward attempting to glide across the stage. And, honestly, I'd put Cedric and Shauna in the bottom, too; I love Shauna, and I thought Cedric really did his best this week and even made Mary like him, but to me, their mambo seemed slow — and possibly dumbed-down for Cedric's benefit.
What do you think? Who was the best of the night? Who will be in danger at tonight's elimination? And what was up with Sara's outfit of sequined bikini, drapey fabric, and exposed faux-panties?

i agree with you about Cedric and Shauna being on the bottom three and maybe even for Danny and Anya. But I have feeling if Danny and Anya have to perform to save their lives they will continue because the judges love them and they will put alot of heart and thought to their performances.
as for hok and jaime, i doubt it. i mean didn't you watch their second week performace? the judges pretty much said the same thing to hok then and now but they weren't in the bottom three that week. i have a feeling that hok and jaime are America's favorite two dancers.
lastly how cute was hok and Jaimes little segment before dancing trying not to answer if they have crushes on each other. And HOK: dancer, artist and violinst And a british accent to pair with all of that. Is there anything that Hok can't do?
1Sabra and Dominic were hotter than hot, I was just gaggin when I saw that lol. They are my favourite couple. Sarah and Pasha all I can say is wow, amazing partnership. I loved it. Cedric blew, I love him but he stank to high heaven.
2I enjoyed the show last night. I thought it was pretty entertaining.
3pinkflats, that's a good point about Hok and Jaimie. I haven't warmed up to Jaimie that much, but I really love Hok, and he probably is one of the favorites. Who do you think will be in the bottom instead?
4like i said i agree with you on Cedric and Shauna and maybe even for Danny and Anya just because America doesn't like to vote for people who think they are smarter, talented than the everyone else. i mean look at who is our president for the past years. opps sorry to get all political on you. lol
but the last couple that i think would be in the bottome three is Lacey and Cameron. I know you like them but if isn'the dance that will put you in the bottom three it's going first. With the Danny debate, the awesome new partnership and Wade Robson's cool choreograhy voters might forget about Lacey and Cameron. In other words there were so much going on after their performance.
5Danny is clearly the best, he's probably my favorite because I tend to judge on talent here...
I thought Sara and Pasha were fantastic last night, but Neil and Lauren's routine really blew me away....
6Last night's epi was boring. I didn't even watch all of it because it was so slow paced, it had no great beats.
7but sadly princess_eab SYTYD is about voting for America's favorite dancer and not America's most talented dancer because if it was i bet some of the people who went home the first two weeks would still be here.
as much as i love the show (if you can't tell with my passionated multiple postings on this show, lol) i think that is one aspect that irks me because you know the people that deserves to win because they are talented wouldn't win because voters might not like them.
Buzz I read that New York Times article and I agree with what the journalist said about Danny being a prince from the rest. he is THAT good. too bad he won't be this season's winner.
8Question: If Danny is that bad*ss then what is he doing on So you think you can dance, he doesn't need to be taking crap after all those accomplishments especially from a public that enabled Jesus to go home adn CEdric to stay.
9you know nyar i have a feeling that danny wants to break into the entertainment industry as an actor or something and SYTYCD is a mainstream stage for him to showcase his talent and get a crack in Hollywood.
10Missed last night's show, so thanks for the great recap, Buzz. Looking forward to reading the interview with Adam Shankman as well.
11Well Nyar, dancers don't really have it easy even if they are amazing (just like singers and actors) so I'm sure Danny just wants a chance to get a leg up like everybody else. In creative professions a show like this is a huge boost.
12Sara and Pasha did great together for their first week
13I think Danny does have an attitude. From the auditions episodes I sensed that he thought he was better then anyone else. And he is by far the most talented. But to be in a compitition where America votes for you there has to be a likeability factor, and I just don't think he has it. You have to have confidence, but at the same time be humble and easy going. I personally would never vote for him no matter how good he dances becasue I personally do not like him. I would much see someone like Pasha or Hok to win who have the talent and the likeability.
