In coming up with my initial ideas, found I matched with many above. Challenged myself to have an "original" cast with the exception of having to stick with my first instinct and agreeing wholeheartedly with fieryelectra on my choice for Sandy.

Wow, that was harder than anticipated!

Here's my reasoning (if it matters?):
Sandy - Emilie de Ravin (Claire on Lost) has a real innocence about her that I think would work for Sandy. I think her age works, too.

Danny - He was about the hardest to cast! Jim Sturgess (starring in the upcoming Across the Universe) is British, so I dunno if that matters, but he has a certain look about him. If anything he might look too sweet, but I think he could pull of a little bit of badass. His age also seems right—mature enough, but not too old..?

Rizzo - Actually, she might have been the hardest. I couldn't decide on anybody (no one seemed to have enough "hot mama" about them), so I ended up just picking Selma Blair. I think she would do well.

Frenchy - I was surprised to see how many people suggested Rachel also. I think she just has the right look. And I know she can play sweet well, I just have to force myself not to think of Regina.

Kenickie - I have to admit, I saw that someone else suggested Milo for Danny. As Jess on Gilmore Girls he always kinda looked like he came out of Grease, so why not? I just thought he made a better Kenickie.

Principal McGee - She really doesn't have a very big part... I think a lot of the other suggestions could play her fine. Julie Andrews just came to my mind as someone who would look good doin' it.

This is a hard one. While it was easy to cast the supporting roles, I found Sandy and Danny to be particularly hard to nail. Here goes:

Ashley Tisdale bc of her quirkiness and singing ability. Imagine her in a bright pink wig and you will get it.

Jesse McCartney, sang and on Summerland.

Then Anjelica Huston bc she is awesome!

I was torn between a few versions of the recast, so here's all three. Heheheheh. I decided against making a super teen Hollywood cast, because I think the cast will revolve around the usual suspects. So just for something new, and to stay true to the Grease Tradition (when they shot Grease, Travolta was 24 and Sandy was 30).

Version 1 (With the foreign Sandy):
SANDY - Romola Garai (Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights, Vanity Fair, I Capture the Castle) Romola's a British actress and she'll have that I don't quite belong here vibe like Olivia Newton John. She does it quite well too, she's done it for both Dirty Dancing 2 and I Capture the Castle.

DANNY - Milo Ventimiglia
Milo even LOOKS like Danny. I can totally see it. He has that Rebelish Bully Bad Boy vibe who'll fall apart when the world's not going his way. It's

RIZZO - Zooey Deschanel
Because Zooey can be wickedly entertaining, terribly heartbreaking and absolutely brilliant. I can totally see her singing "There are Worse Things I Could Do"

FRENCHY - Anna Faris
Anna Faris is amazing as well. Watch her in "The Hot Chick" and "Just Friends" to see how she could be Frenchy. I love her, and she'd be great in the role.

KENICKIE - Chad Michael Murray
I kind of see him going off, acting all tough and trashing Zooey. They might look good together. Chad's actually not a bad actor sometimes. And I think he could be a broody, self-obsessed Kenickie.

P.MCGEE - Christine Baranski
I think she could pull off Principal McGee really well. And be fabulous while doing so. Hehehe.
