I'll admit it: I forgot about this G.I. Joe movie. I didn't realize until today that it's coming out this Friday, Aug. 7. This doesn't necessarily bode well for the action film, but then again, it does have a strong fan base already and is garnering some positive reviews.
Here's a synopsis: "An elite military unit comprised of special operatives known as G.I. Joe, operating out of The Pit, takes on an evil organization led by a notorious arms dealer."
Are you excited to see this popcorn flick? Or, do you just not care?

I wasn't impressed when I saw the previews, but I dunno.. if it gets good reviews then I might see it
1No thank you. The trailer looks silly and I'm not a fan of Channing Tatum. I'll wait to Netflix it.
2Same here -- I was unimpressed with the trailer. The movie had a different look from the comics and T.V. animation. If I didn't know better, I would never have thought it was G.I. Joe.
3Of course, I'm seeing this - you would be MAD not too. The trailers are really cool, THEY get better each time.
Anyone thinking the trailers looks silly well hello it's based on Toys/Cartoons WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?????
It's getting really positive reviews (long may it continue, hey popcorn fun isn't that what we WANT), so why not see it then JUST FOR FUN?
By the way don't judge this film until you have least seen it on the big screen once.
WHAT you are not a Channing Tatum fan seriously can we talk? The man is HOT and was a top model, can dance, fashionable, from all appearances well mannered plus CAN act and a G.I. Joe (Action Man)in this movie.
Seriously ladies, what more does a girl want in a man (shame he is married)????? Watch the film.....there is so much more to Channing Tatum then meets the eye especially watching his previous movies there is a SUPERSTAR coming through - it takes time (his only been acting for 6 years - not bad) but he will SHINE with support and HELL the film looks good anyway.
This is the kind of movie we need to take our minds of serious issues in our lives for just a couple of hours and the kids will enjoy....SO GO JOE!
4G.I Joe has been an iconic name for over 50 years. I wouldnt be surprised if it opened up with a 60 million dollar plus weekend.
The people in my market are really stoked about this movie. Especially those in their 20s.
I get burned out by the summer special effects extravaganza. But, I am looking forward to G I Joe.
Cheers~ Grantz
5channing in leather and w/o a shirt? hell yeah i'm excited
6I can't honestly remember even seeing a trailer for GI Joe, so that really doesn't bode well for it.
7Honestly, I had no idea it was opening this weekend, or even that there was going to be a movie called GIJoe. Shows my enthusiasm?
8Joseph Gordon Levitt as Cobra Commander. that boy's got RANGE
I dragged my boyfriend to 500 Days of Summer, so it's my turn to be dragged to this movie.
9The actual veteran that G.I. Joe was based on stipulated that he always wanted the toy to be an American special forces soldier. I think it is really disrespectful for the film industry to simply ignore that request. I will not be putting my 8 dollars in their pockets just to mildly entertain myself for 90 minutes.
10am looking forward on gordon and that korean actor (forgot his name)...
11only reason for me to go see it is for joseph gordon levitt, although i hear he's covered up in costume throughout the movie. bummer.
12I am SUPER excited. Plus Channing Tatum is an added bonus!
13It's not really my cup of tea, these OTT action movies - but I am only interested in seeing it because of Christopher Eccleston
I'd watch him in anything (clearly) and hope the movie doesn't suck for him. I wish we got to see more of him... Miss him as Doctor Who.
14i'm not sure how i feel about this one. at first i was not interested at all - but then i saw the trailer and it's better than anticipated so i might go see it. we'll see.
15This will be payback for you girls dragging your guys to The Ugly Truth and The Proposal
I look forward to watching it. I wont see it opening day or anything, but I think it will be pretty entertaining.
16i'll go see it because i love action movies, but i have a sinking feeling they're going to screw it up. i could be wrong though.
17Hey True GI Joe Fan, are you an employee of Paramount, or what??
18I think it sounds good but I am a little worried with it only being rated PG and them throughing some comedy in there too.
19I saw a preview for this movie when I took my daughter to see G-Force so I am thinking its more for the younger kids today and not for the older people that grew up with the original.
I guess I pictured it to be very jam packed with action like Transformers but it seems to be more child friendly.
Hi Suziryder (all),
Firstly, I love Sex and City but getting back to G.I. Joe, I'm not an employee of Paramount but just a G.I. Joe fan with common sense, it's a film based on toys/comics/cartoons nothing more and nothing less.
I just enjoy going to movies and giving my opinions hopefully, it was good enough that you thought I worked for Paramount.
Actually, I have now seen the movie, it was on Thursday night and yeah it was exactly what I expected. It's not going to win any oscars for the acting (they did their best with the script provided) but it was pure entertainment for sure (what blockbusters should be) and all ages will for sure enjoy this.
My friends and I gave it 8.5 out of 10 because we like all types of movies including this movie, again pure entertainment.
Basically leave your brain at the door and just have some popcorn and watch an enjoyable ride for a couple of hours.
Have fun at the movies always (whatever your taste) as life is far to short to take anything too seriously especially G.I. Joe.
Conclusion, a little cheesy but who cares, it's action packed (all things for everyone) G.I. Joe and has Channing Tatum.
Bring on the sequel!
