Every Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!
I was delighted by way too many of the recast ideas for "I Love Lucy" to name them all here, but I do want to make some shout-outs before running out of room! I was highly impressed with some of the non-Debra Messing ideas for Lucy, such as K2's Kelly Ripa, Livience's Amy Adams and most of all the popular choice of Isla Fisher. I also liked many of the Ethel casting choices, like Marcia Gay Harden selected by prbeachbum, and ddene5713's pick of Kate Winslet. Finally, I think Pinkflats is onto something with casting John Leguizamo as Ricky.
My favorite list overall, however, comes from pepperatstate! In the end, I do think Debra Messing would make a perfect Lucy, and pepperatstate's other choices are great too. So to see who she picked along with a new cast photo, read more

John Leguizamo would have been perfect as Ricky. I guess his performance in Moulin Rouge keeps popping in my head whenever I think of him...And I love Moulin Rouge.

5the women are GREAT choices for this. The men...not so much. I think Christopher Walken for Fred may work better.

I think that lilo has lucys eyes... maybe if she was older.... but Lucy is just one show that should just be left as is! No one could ever be as great as her!

12I missed this one, too. I agree that the women are great choices but the men leave a lot to be desired. fab4's suggestion of Christopher Walken for Fred is out of left field and terrific!

14Personally, I don't think Debra was a good choice for Lucy. Just because she's a redhead, doesn't mean she's good for the part. You've got to have someone who's good with comedy like Lucy was. Maybe if you could pick characters from TV shows, then Debra's character Grace Adler from Will & Grace would've been good. I think Antonio Bandaras was a good choice. He's got the accent just like Ricky did so it just works. I don't know much about the other two, so I can't say anything about them. But I agree with dejavue, I Love Lucy is just one of those shows that should be left as it is..no one can be as good as Lucille Ball!

16I dont agree with much of this recast. Debra has been called by every medial outlet the "lucy" of our generation and there have been rumors of a movie with her as Lucy,PLus in an entertainment weekly a few years back Debra dressed up like lucy.
As for the rest, i agree with Jane Krakowski, but not with Antonio as Ricky, he is too brooding and harsh. and Chris Nolan isnt old enough.
17Lol, I definatly would have watched "I Love Lucy" if that were the cast. And Antonio Banderas is my fave!! However I think John Leguizamo would have done a better job just because he is so funny, and younger
