This morning Chandra Wilson and The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons rather adorably announced the major category nominees for the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards. It's a curious batch this year, with many of the categories containing more nominees than usual.
The 30 Rock appreciation continues, and has even increased, with a 30 Rock nomination in each of the comedy acting fields (and two in the Supporting Actor category — go Jack McBrayer!). There's still more love for Boston Legal and none for Friday Night Lights, which is disappointing but not surprising, and True Blood is nowhere to be found in the major categories.
For the first time in a long time, Jeremy Piven is not nominated for his work on Entourage, though Pushing Daisies is still getting a bit of attention with a nomination for Kristen Chenoweth. Kathy Griffin hopefully won't have quite so much to gripe about during the next season of My Life on the D-List, as she picked up not one but two nominations.
And as I'd hoped, there is some appreciation for an actress on Mad Men — but it's not January Jones. To see a list of nominees, read more.

Givenchy
Drew and Jessica both deserve to win! I'm hoping for a double win though I know it almost never happens. If it hasn't happened before, well there's a first for everything!
1Oy. No Tudors? For James Frain at least. And Kyle Chandler deserves to be nominated for FNL way more than some of the other men. And Connie Britton! These award shows are so lame.
2Well at least Michael Emerson got a nomination, I hope he wins. I'm surprised True Blood's actors or BSG weren't considered.
3Very disappointed that Friday Night Lights was totally ignored. Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton and the show itself are so deserving. Lots of great choices in the drama category, but FNL should be there as well.
4I'm so glad How I Met Your Mother finally got some recognition in the best comedy category.
5I'm happy to see that a lot of my favorites got nominated. I know it's a long shot, but I'm pulling for How I Met Your Mother. And, even though they were predictable, I'm glad to see the Mad Men nominations. I wish Christina Hendricks would have been nominated, though. I love her portrayal of Joan.
6Where the F is Rescue me, and Denis Leary? where is any love for Southland? Trueblood? Lost (besides M. Emerson)?
7Also where is Battlestar Galactica? which had better acting in in that 99% of the crap that was nominated!
8I was hoping Friday Night Lights, Chuck, and Psych would get some recognition. I'm disappointed (and not surprised) that Kristen Wiig got a nomination but not Bill Hader.
9And I like Rainn Wilson on The Office, but I think Ed Helms deserved a nomination more this year.
Also, I don't understand how Two and a Half Men keeps getting nominations.
YES for Family Guy making history!
And I'm so happy that 30 Rock's gotten so many nominations too, the show's incredible!
10i'm so glad jim parsons is included - he is the best!
11I'm so happy about Generation Kill and the recognition it got. Would've loved it more if A. Skarsgard or S. Sands got a nomination too.
I'm also rooting for Hugh Laurie and Neil Patrick Harris.
12No noms for any of the ladies of Big Love? Boo!
13Seriously no fnl AGAIN? Also nothing for True Blood? I am really happy to see HIMYM was finally nominated.
I am so sick and tired of seeing the same exact people getting nominated over and over again. I'm looking at you two and a half men!
14No Jeremy Piven this year? Hopefully Kevin Dillon takes it, after all the years of being nominated, he deserves it! Plus- he's freakin hilarious!
15I disagree with the Entourage nom, just didn't think it was so great last season. I am rooting for Michael C. Hall & Michael Emerson! Also Tom Colicchio for reality host. Funny Katherine heigl didn't get a nom
16i love How I Met Your Mother, thanks to Neill hosting its getting more attention. I'm glad there's some new faces (Flight of the Concords anyone?!) but still some good ones
i hope chandra wins for grey's cause she was amazing and consistent this past season. katherine heigl was good too, but she put her foot in her mouth and thats why she didn't get nominated
17Where is the love for So You Think You Can Dance? It's 10x better than Dancing with the Stars. And Cat Deely is the hostess with the mostess!!!!
18Ugh. A good majority of these shows/some of the people have been nominated before. Where's the new talent? I never really liked 30 Rock (I must be the only one!), or a lot of the shows that are represented here...
I hope Dirty Jobs takes the Outstanding Reality Series! Mythbusters is really cool too, I just never watch it that much...and Mike Rowe is a boss, for real.
Phil Keoghan for Amazing Race...he's awesome even when the contestants are being totally ridiculous.
19For reals! Where is Cat Deely's name? She is the best host on TV right now.
20How bittersweet for "Pushing Daisies" and "Samantha, Who?" to get noms in acting categories for shows that are gone too soon!
21SOO glad to see some new names/shows in these categories!! Like most others, I'm so sick of the same ppl getting nominated (and somehow winning) all the time...Two and half Men, Tony Shaloub, Jeremy Piven..yuck!! I'm excited about HIMYM & Family Guy, Kristin Wiig, Kristen Chenowith, Drew Barrymore & Jack McBrayer!! Really bummed Lost didn't get more love, considering how amazing the past season was. But Goo Ben!!
22Only one nomination for The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler?
Nothing for Anna? Boo-hoo.
23So disappointed. FNL and True Blood both deserve nominations.
24I'm all giddy because one of my good friends (OK, the man I had hoped to marry until he met and married a really wonderful woman) was nominated for writing. Yay!
25that's kind of surprising that true blood isn't on there especially since anna did such a great job and got the GG but oh well. i'm sure that she's happy with what she has.
26I'm very annoyed THE SHIELD didn't get a single nomination. BEST season ever, and you can't top the way it was ended =( But, happy 30 Rock got all the nominations!!!
27Is Monk still on? How about some fresh nods here? Grey's Anatomy is so 2007.
28I really don't understand how Charlie Sheen, Tony Shalhoub, and 30 Rock continue to get nominations year after year. Ugh where is the love for True Blood, Pushing Daisies (excluding the noms for Kristen and costumes), etc. And I think Katherine Heigl should've been nominated because of the difficult storyline she had this year.
29Anyway, I'll focus on the positive. I'm rooting for: Family Guy, How I Met your Mother, Lost, The Colbert Report, Jim Parsons, Christina Applegate, Toni Collette, Drew Barrymore, Michael Emerson, Kristin Chenoweth, Amy Poehler, Kristin Wiig, Justin Timberlake (for guest starring on SNL!!), Chandra Wilson, Sandra Oh, and Phil Keoghan (host of the Amazing Race). I don't know who I want to win Best Reality show because they all sucked this year...
30I can't believe the Tudors didn't get nominated for outstanding drama series!?
31Wahoo to Jim Parsons & Kevin Dillon!!! I love those guys.
I hope Jim beats Alec! And I hope Sarah beats Tina!
32I am sure Tina Fey will win for her guest spot(s) on SNL as Sarah Palin. Still, all the nominees in that category are great.
Ill miss
that show way too much.
33I wish Pushing Daisies was more appreciated, it should be a nominee in Best Comedy. Also, Kristen C is brilliant but so are Chi McBride and Anna Friel...even the aunts! That show was perfect. I hope they win best costumes, even if it is just for the mermaid costumes!
Lost is also deserving of more! I'm completly rooting for Michael Emerson but what about Terry O'Quinn and Matthew Fox?
Other than that, great choices! It should be an exciting show.
Also I love Mad Men but "The Incident" deserves that Emmy! That was SUCH a fantastic episode!
34WAIT... Charlie Sheen got nominated but ZACHARY LEVI GOT SNUBBED??? 2 and a Half Men isn't even funny. Chuck on the other hand is pure brilliance... and I'm really feeling that this is Hugh Laurie's year. Fingers crossed!
35i'm really over 30 Rock, 2 and a 1/2 men always getting the noms......
I'm rooting for Family Guy, Drew Barrymore, Elizabeth Moss, Chandra Wilson, Kevin Dillon, Tina Fey's Sarah Palin, and Justin Timberlake's Mother Lover.
Simon Baker is so yummy!
36I really really hope True Blood gets an Emmy for Main Title Design. I absolutely love the logo and music/art intro for that show. I get the shivers just thinking about it. I also am very sad that Dexter did not get a nomination for Outstanding Casting. Every character on that show is pitch perfect, accomplishing the rare feat of making a show that's better than the book.
37I don't know half of the shows, but I'm so hoping for Hugh Laurie. House MD & Lost are still my favorites. Oh, and I love Mike Rowe in Dirty Jobs.
38I hope Jennifer wins!
39sooooo excited for Jim Parsons!!!!
40WHY NO NCIS?
41What? Such few nominations for 24?!? And just one for burn notice!! I've had enough of 30 rock!! Aargh!
42I'm strongly elated with 30 Rock's nomination in all of the top nominations, however i hope Charlie Sheen gets his award, the rest i will be supporting the 30 Rock casts and crew. As for the Drama series, i didn't watch as most of the seems lame, the greatest was ever made was The West Wing. Can't believe Heroes and Ncis are omitted from the Emmys, damn! Anyways, 30 Rock rules the emmys.
