In some ways, I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been a third Bridget Jones movie yet since Hollywood seems more keen on making remakes and sequels than producing original material. We're only now hearing news of another movie centered around that zany Bridget Jones, and this one probably won't even go into production until the end of next year.

The third, untitled movie will again star Renee Zellweger in the title role and unsurprisingly, after trying to untangle all the messes in her romantic life, this next story will probably focus on her desire to have a baby: "It will likely be based on the weekly columns author Helen Fielding wrote in 2005 for British newspaper the Independent in which Bridget, now in her 40s, attempts to have a baby before it's too late."
I still watch Bridget Jones's Diary from time to time (usually around the holidays!) but, to be completely honest, I truly hate the sequel, Bridget Jones — The Edge of Reason. Then again, sometimes the third movie is actually better than the second. I'm open to the idea. What do you think of a third Bridget Jones movie?

I really hated the books and the movies. I don't think I could stomach watching another.
1I will totally go see it. I'm psyched!
2i am thrilled! love love love bridget jones.
3We'll have to see. I read the first book right when it came out and loved it. I liked the first movie. I didn't read the second book, but I didn't like the second movie. I'd definitely watch a third movie, but I think it would be one I'd have to Netflix.
4the second book is good. the movie strayed quite a bit from the book. but i enjoyed both.
5I love Bridget Jones. The movies are so funny.
6Not necessary. Second movie was not good and having her gain all that weight again is not healthy. They need to find something interesting for her to do that's new and fresh and not the same ol same ol.
7The second one was already unnecessary, but since I love Colin Firth I watched it anyway...
8I find it odd that they're making a movie without a third book, but if there's columns to go on, I guess that's okay. Then again, the plots of these movies are never anything like the books. I wonder if they'll contrive yet another way to keep Hugh Grant in the movies even though his character wasn't even in the second book.
9I think this would be good, but quite honestly I think a television series based on either of her other books "Cause Celeb" or "Olive Joules and the Overactive Imagination" would be a lot fresher and more fun.
10If the the new movie has the same plot as the 2005 columns then I'll pass. I really don't need to see Bridget having Daniel Cleaver's (who hasn't matured a bit) baby and moving in with him. I would rather picture Mark & Bridget living happily ever after. So people don't get too excited about the new movie until you actually find out what the columns were all about.
11Let Bridget Jones lie in peace with Mark Darcy, a third installment is totally unnecessary.
12The second movie wasn't as good as the second book, but it was still entertaining. So I'm looking forward to it
. Just as long as she and Mark don't break up again.
13The first movie was amazing! The second movie was entertaining but not great. However, I would love to see the character of Jones tackling the baby situation.
And I agree...she and Mark should not break up again....maybe a little fight but nothing too big...lol
14I voted no because I think the second movie wrapped things up nicely. It would depend on how they do it because I actually liked the sequel...or at least more than I usually like sequels.
15I only liked the first 1, they should stop.
16The second movie was really awful- which was especially disappointing as I really loved the second book. I'd probably see a third movie if Colin Firth was involved, but I'm skeptical...
17I love the books and really liked the movies, but there isn't a third book! I was hoping that Fielding would write a third book but she hasn't, so how can they just make a third movie??
18loved movie 1, book 1, book 2, but didn't like movie 2
19The first one was cute, but come on...
20i liked mk's idea (from dlisted)... "they can just plop a blonde wig on Kirstie Alley and squirt lemon juice in her eyes. There's Bridget Jones!" hahahahaha
21Yay. Love Bridget, Renee plays the role very well (and Colin is
.) I look forward to this
movie.
22i loved these movies i'm just not sure how great it would really be...lol
23I loved the first, thought the second was okay, but still entertaining. If they can do a good job with the third, it will be worth it. It would have to have good writing and editing, and be very funny, whatever the story line. It is worth the risk.
