All this news about Richard Hatch trying to participate in a 10th anniversary edition of Survivor to help pay back the money he owes the IRS has me reminiscing about Survivor's first season in 2000. Hatch was the winner (or, survivor, I guess) of the show's inaugural season, and I can clearly remember how tense I was during those final few episodes before he won. Of course, I didn't have any kind of DVR back then, so I would race home every week in order to tune into this crazy and (at the time) intense reality show. Until then, I'd never seen anything like it, and I was so addicted.
After that first season, my interest in Survivor waned and now I don't watch it at all, but I will never forget how excited I was about that series, once upon a time.
Did you also tune in every week when Survivor first began? Or did you get hooked later? Or never?

Hi Buzz. I was addicted from day one.
One of the producers with some kind of local ties was talking on one of our radio stations about this new concept they had for a tv show. When I heard the pitch, it sounded weak.
Six months later, Survivor premiered, and we all loved it.
I have grown weary of the scores of reality shows since. Although I do love Big Brother as well.

1I didn't watch the first season. I only watched two seasons. One season because a girl I had a class with in undergrad was in it (sweet girl named Michelle but she went by Mitch at school...don't remember what season). I also watched pieces of last season b/c my husband is friends with Bob's (the guy that won) nephew.
2we totally watched, EVERY week. it's funny, we had just moved into this house and had our second daughter. 2 of the contestants had the same names as our girls (jenna and kelly) so we were cheering them on. lots has changed in the past 10 years, but i still remember the final showdown and the dressing down the runner up got from her disgusted teammate, lol.
remember how much weight everyone lost on that first season? we haven't been seen a show since, do they all still lose a lot of weight?
3Yes, my roommate & I were hooked and watched the show every week. When it was revealed on the final show that Richard Hatch was the winner we literally screamed in horror and disgust. I haven't seen an episode since.
4Yes I have watched all of the seasons except 1! But just like grantz I absolutely love big brother, which I'm watching big brother after dark right now! Best reality show ever, I have seen every single episode and can't get enough!
5I was obsessed! My friends and I had a finale party where we dressed like our favourites and ate rice out of coconuts haha... I was Colleen, complete with the scratches and bugs on my legs
6The first season was awesome! No one knew what was going on or "how to win". By season 2 I was over it though. It was great television!
7Yeah, it was huge back then! I haven't watched any season since then though...
8Are you kidding me? It was up against "Friends" and nothing could (or still can) make me change the channel!
