On July 1, filmmakers of the next Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, will begin their search for a girl to play the role of Lavender Brown, the "sycophantic drama queen who becomes Ron Weasley's first girlfriend."
One week later on July 8, they'll again hold a casting call to find their Tom Riddle, who "grows up to be the evil dark wizard Lord Voldemort." Eligible hopefuls must be between the ages of 15 and 18, and must be residents of Britain (and they are required to present identification at the casting call).
Apparently, when they last did this to find the actresses to play Luna Lovegood and Cho Chang, 15,000 girls showed up to vie for the spots. So if you're going, bring a chair. And good luck!

ROFLL. im far from being a fanatic, much less a resident of Britain.
but im thinking that most of those turned up are cosplayers xD
1They already had a Tom Riddle, though.
He was in the end of Chamber of
Secrets.
Maybe JKR will create a 30-something year-old American woman for Deathly Hallows so I can try out for the final movie.
2I think I'm a little too old to try out. hehe
3dang. i was so excited to read this. then i read the bit that you had to be a resident of britain. boooo.
4Hey Whip — I was curious about that, too, though it looks like this guy who played Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets is almost 30 years old, so maybe they're looking for someone to play an even younger Tom Riddle? It does seem a little strange, though.
5if only i was a resident of the UK, i could tottally be Lavender.
6Update: It's true, the man who played Tom Riddle in Chambers of Secrets is now too old to play the young Tom Riddle, check it out:
7"Though the teenage form of Lord Voldemort was seen before in 2002's 'Chamber of Secrets,' the actor who played him then, the nearly 30-year-old Christian Coulson, has aged out of the part. 'I think Christian's a brilliant actor, and I thought it was a terrific piece of casting, but he's too old now,' [director David] Yates said."
I never liked any of these HP movies-The trailers were awful.
8Yay! I'm a resident of britain - but I can't act. Do you really think it matters to much?
9It's weird that you have to be a British resident. An Irish girl was cast as Luna Lovegood. And she's not even an actress.

10JK Rowling wouldn't let the movies be made unless the WB (or whichever film company is under her wing) promised an almost exclusively British cast. The main exceptions were Chris Columbus as the director for the first two movies, and I believe the guy that played Oliver Wood, because he's Irish or some such. Also Krum, but they wanted a real Bulgarian for that part. So it's not entirely shocking that they put that restriction down, it's nothing new. Sadly.
11uggh that totally sucks.. for reallz though cause im and actress and model but an amature at that and i would totally love to do a part in the harry potter movie. i read all the books many times.. but doesnt matter cause i am auditioning for a part or role in the the final twilight movie so either is great..
