Based on just one brief video clip, I was excited enough about David Duchovny's new Showtime comedy, "Californication," to name it one of my top 10 reasons to keep your TV on this summer. Showtime has now released a longer, movie trailer-style preview for the series, and it's just made me even more excited to see the show for myself.
In "Californication," Duchovny stars as a self-destructive novelist who's managed to thoroughly wreck his relationship with his girlfriend and finds himself living a life full of drugs, drinking, and general bad news while not-so-secretly pining for his old, more stable situation. Duchovny looks to have a great touch with comedy, but my favorite part of this preview is Madeleine Martin, the young actress who plays Duchovny's daughter; she gets all of the best laugh lines in this clip. As a die-hard X-phile, I am so excited to see David Duchovny back on tv! Between this show and Weeds, I have to subscribe to Showtime
Yet another reason to keep Showtime. I've eagerly been awaiting the new season of "Weeds" and really enjoyed "The Tudors". Can't wait for the return of David Duchovny to the small screen and this show looks like it could be another hit for Showtime.
Definitely have to subscribe to Showtime now. Thanks for helping me make the argument, Buzz! Tudors, Weeds, Dexter and now Californication. Great shows!
Are you guys joking? That looks terrible! What exactly makes this seem like something worth watching, other than that David Duchovny is likable enough to make this trailer vaguely stomachable?
i wonder how good it'll be. i like david duchovny, but the story line seems unappealing.
David Duchovny, Natasha McElhone and what looks like a real-life Emily Strange! I think this may be well worth watching.
Showtime is really working on giving HBO a run for its money when it comes to their series. They have some really good ones like The Tudors and Weeds - I'll look forward to checking this one out.
you're right, buzz..this one looks like a winner
It looks interesting but I don't have Showtime so I'll have to wait for Netflix and by that time I'll probably forget about it. I kept waiting to hear the RHCP's Californication playing in the backround but it never did. Bummer.
Oh yay its Harry from SATC!
seriously jonesing for some X-philes --- YaY David is here
How creepy is it that one of the women he sleeps with was the youngest child on 'The Nanny'? I dunno if I'll watch this or not, it'll have to win me over
