I've always been oddly drawn to Found — a magazine that collects and compiles discarded notes, ticket stubs, doodles, and other objects — and curious about the life of its founder, writer and occasional "This American Life" contributor Davy Rothbart. So I was excited to hear (thanks to Pop Candy) about Rothbart's next project: starring in a documentary about love directed by David Meiklejohn, who followed Rothbart on tour for four months.
According to Meiklejohn, the idea is to use Rothbart's adventures (mostly misadventures, apparently) in love to tell a more universal story about romance. He's editing the film right now, and as he shapes his story, he's posting weekly video installments on the movie's official site and MySpace page. The first "video chunk" is up now, and it has all the hallmarks of the kind of sweet, big-hearted indie project that makes me go a little weak in the knees.
