It's Summer, and that means it's time for my Five Questions series, where I reflect on the most recent seasons of some favorite shows and chat about their challenges for the future. Today, I'm posing some questions for the CW's 90210 remake, which will start its second season in the Fall.
- Um, did Annie kill someone? It sure seemed like in the season finale, she hit something while driving drunk through California in the wee hours of the morning. If she did kill someone, there could be major fallout. Like, maybe Annie will have to go to jail for life and be off the show. Gosh, that would be too bad.
- Will we get a heartthrob? Ethan was supposed to be the hottie, and that didn't quite work out. Then it was Liam, and — well, more on that below. Now it's Trevor Donovan as "big man on campus"-type Teddy. From your comments on the Teddy casting, it seems like the show still isn't getting it right. Is it really so hard to find attractive, appealing young men these days?
- Will the new Melrose Place help or hurt? Tuesday nights on the CW are now remake city, with Melrose Place joining 90210 on the schedule. I already liked the Melrose pilot more than the first episode of 90210, and I'm wondering if the new show will overshadow 90210. Or will 90210 raise its game, too?
- Can Naomi stop lusting after borderline-abusive jerks? OK, I'm just talking about one jerk at the moment: Liam. I know some people find him attractive, but I think he's mean, aggressive, and way cocky. Naomi may be wacky, but she's way too sassy and confident to settle for such a creep. Her sister boinked him anyway, so hopefully that'll help this relationship end for good.
- Can anyone rescue the wardrobe? I rarely, if ever, complain about a show's fashion sense — but this show needs some help. These kids are supposed to be the coolest, wealthiest teens in America, and they dress like, well, me. Annie and Silver need cooler duds, and Naomi's hair needs to look less dated. Toward the end of the season, things started to improve, but I'm still hoping for a wardrobe overhaul come Fall.

I agree with the 1st and 4th questions!
1My friends and I think Dixon and Navid are really good looking, so a new heart throb would be a bonus!
I live in England, and I doubt Melrose Place will be aired considering no one my age has heard of it.
And I actually love the wardrobe on 90210, especially Silver's!
"Annie will have to go to jail for life and be off the show. Gosh, that would be too bad."
LOL. i know right =\
2yeah; I actually love most of the wardrobe; the only I think looks way too average and boring is Annie's. but Naomi's rich clothes are fabulous; and Silver's do-whatever-it-takes-to-be-different look rocks.
3just one question; in question # 1, were you trying to be sarcastic? because I think that would make this show bearable...
#2 I think Tristian Wilds who plays Dixion is good looking and its not hard to attractive guys gossip girl seems to grasp this concept. 90210's casting directors need to step their game up.
4#4 I agree with this completely, when Liam fisrt came on the show I thought he would be an interesting new chracter, based on what I saw on the first episode he was in. He ended up just being mean. I don't have a problem with mean my favorite chracters on tv are gregory house and blair waldorf its just that the writers made him a one dimensional chracter. Chracters like blair and house for example are well wriiten, layered, and complicated. The audience ends up rooting for them. The writers have given us no reason to root for or care about Liam.
#5 Maybe I'm spoiled from gossip girl, girlfriends, lipstick jungle, and sex and the city but this show needs to update the wardrobe.
^ I meant "first came on the show"
5well we all know that shanae was getting a bit of a diva attitude so maybe the producers are tired of it? we'll have to wait and see.
to be honest, i lost interest in the show after about 3 weeks - so i'm not sure that i'll even bother to tune in. MP might help - but i'm really not all that hopeful.
6The wardrobe has been....dead on. Annie doesn't have rich girl clothes because Annie ISN'T a rich girl. Silver is unique and stand our while still mixing vintage with designer labels (at least I can spot them), Naomi has it dead on wardrobe wise. I agree with Annie going away, anyone that is associated with Degrassi needs to be sliced open and hung out on a telephone pole. The heart throbs they had they aren't using!! Ty was just....yum and Kellan Lutz (George) is gone because of Twilight which sucks cause I liked George and thought he could have become something. All in all though wardrobe and hair wise I think this show is dead on with the West Beverly attitude and appearance....to many of you are commenting on style differences based on Sex and the City and Gossip Girl and so on....you do realize that all those shows are in NEW YORK. The style difference between New York and California are so different it's staggering.
