While there are several new releases coming out this weekend (Evan Almighty, A Mighty Heart, 1408, and others), it's hard to say if any of them will definitely knock The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer off of its box office throne. What do you think?

I love Steve Carell!!! I think that Evan will be first, followed by F4, A mighty Heart and 1408 in last.
1Despite the less than positive reviews, Evan will probably draw the weekend audience.
2We saw 1408 last night, and the theater was packed FULL. No seats available. Very unusual for our area. The only other time I've seen that happen was the opening night of 300. Even the LOTR, Star Wars, and Harry Potter movies weren't hard to get into and sit comfortably around here opening weekend.
3wynter that isnt a very good gauge because location plays a key role. ya know, demographics..
4Silver Surfer
5I didn't vote for 1408, but it just surprised me how full it was (then again, it is summer and the only theater in town but it hasn't been all that busy this summer). It was a very good movie, but I don't think it'll take the #1 spot this weekend.
As for location, small Southern town with a population of about 25,000...almost all middle class families with children.
6I would guess Evan Almighty since it is summer and light-hearted flicks are preferred. Actually, I think the movies are going to come in in the order pictured above... but that's just a coincident.
7Evan has gotten the most publicity, so I go Evan.
8Geeks rule. But will they pick slapstick geek or comic geek?
9I think Evan Almighty.People are going to want to know if it's as good as Bruce Almighty.
10Evan Almighty suck but it will probably be #1.
11ooh and i voted for 1408 because i think it the one who deserve to be #1.
12I hear that 1408 did better than expected, and that Evan was a big disappointment
Here is the article:
"Universal’s Evan Almighty is a huge disappointment. Despite its $200M+ budget, the presence of Steve Carell and an aggressive campaign aimed at Christians, it appears that this story of a modern day Noah generated only an estimated $12M on its opening day, which will likely translate to just $34M for the weekend. If that number holds, Evan Almighty will fall short of $100M domestic, making it a disaster of biblical proportions for NBC Universal.
Meanwhile, MGM/Weinstein has a nice hit on its hands with 1408. This is a horror film, but not an R-rated torture film from the Hostel/Hills Have Eyes school. Instead, it’s just a good scary movie about a haunted hotel room with a very good John Cusack performance. My sources tell me that it will likely finish 2nd on Friday with $7M or so and 3rd for the weekend with approximately $18.5M. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (Fox) is experiencing a massive 2nd weekend drop of 65%. FF2 grabbed only $6.7M on Friday, but its kid appeal will lift it into 2nd place for the weekend with an estimated $20.5M weekend."
13I love John Cusack, but I'm thinking most kids will wanna see Silver Surfer this weekend.
14So, I was kinda in the minority voting for 1408.
15Out of the four, the only movie I want to see is A mighty Heart
16i am tottally looking forward to watching Fantastic Four and i hope it stays at the top of the box office.
17PIRATES!!!!!!
18I actually liked the Silver Surfer... it was better than the first!
19I saw Evan Almighty with my boyfriend and parents on Friday. Evan Almighty was silly but very feel-good, as long as you are able to suspend disbelief and just go with it. I didn't realize until after I had seen it that it was a sequel of Bruce Almighty.
I loved all the animal acting in it. If you like animals, you will love this movie.
20fantastic 4 or Evan. I'm not sure.
