Ashton Kutcher's new movie, Spread, got a lot of attention at Sundance because, well, Ashton Kutcher's in it. It's an interesting move for the actor, who usually hangs out in big-budget comedies, to take a stab at a smaller, dramatic role in an indie film. I'm curious to see how it works.

The good news is that if ever there were a dramatic role meant for Kutcher, this just might be it. His character is a young stud who lands in LA and quickly understands that his good looks and suave way with the ladies will get him far. Gigolo is probably too strong a word . . . but it's not far off. Of course, just as he's bedded a hot 40-something lawyer (Anne Heche) who gives him everything he wants, he meets and falls for a poor waitress. From the looks of the trailer, I'm guessing he has to choose between sex for money and sex for love.
The cinematography looks gorgeous, and some moments kind of make me think of Kutcher's Nikon camera commercials. The best part about the trailer? Gossip Girl's Sebastian Stan!
Spread will hit theaters Aug. 14. To watch the trailer, read more.

It looks okay, I will probably rent it. Ashton Kutcher looks ridiculous with that earring though.
1i'm sure that i'll end up seeing it since i see just about everything - but i've never been the biggest AK fan - so i just don't know
2I will definitely rent the film when it is released. Looks like a cute Saturday night chilling on the couch flick.
3i thought it was cool until the van halen comment. no one under the age of 35, i think, listens/knows of Van Halen.
4No matter what the movie is about he can't act so I'm sure it won't be that great...
5I know of the band Van Halen and I'm 21
. Van Halen is a huge pop culture
reference, so it isn't anything special. I love AK in front of the camera I think he's hilarious, so it's great to see him back acting in movies.
6First off, why is trying to sound like Matthew Mcconaughey?
Second, the Ashton/Anne pairing made me think of Ashton/Demi.
Third, aside from Dude Where's My Car, I haven't really liked anything Ashton's in...well, except the Nikon commercials; I bought one so I guess that worked! LOL!
7Mmmm, I was watching That 70s Show last night and thinking "man, remember when Ashton Kutcher ruled the world? I hope he makes a comeback." I hope this is it. What a gorgeous man and funny too!
8Having been at Sundance this year, I can say that this was NOT one of the buzzed about movies there. I think the expectations were high, as the movie premiered in the largest theater, but it appears disappointment quickly followed. The general feeling was this had been done a lot better in Shampoo. That being said, I am not a huge Ashton fan but I thought he did a great job. He really does have the chops for drama; he just needs to pick better material.
9Looks really cute. However, why does he sound so different? Anne Heche looks so different as well.
10i'll watch it.... but probably wait to rent it x
11anne heche looks amazing with long hair in the trailer!
I've alwys liked Ashton, so I'll probably watch it, but I'm in no rush.
12That earring and accent is ridiculous though, or maybe Ashton's voice has just broken
I'll rent it...
13I'll watch that
14I'll watch it but in no rush. I haven't seen anything he's done except for "that 70s show". He's cute in the phone commercials but I'm Demi's age and like an older man!!
15It was out last week in Paris... I've seen it!!! Half of it is sex, the rest is boring... We never feel any empathy with the character... Far from a good movie!
16i just won tickets on the radio for 2 tickets to see his movie before it comes out and then i get to meet him and anne at an after party! yay cant wait!
