I've been watching out for director Richard Kelly's (Donnie Darko) movie The Box for a long time now, and I'm excited to say that while the premise sounds odd/silly, I think this could turn out to be a great film. Cameron Diaz and James Marsden play married couple Norma and Arthur Lewis who have a pretty storybook life but eventually run into money troubles. Cue very creepy music and Frank Langella showing up on their doorstep with a box. He tells them that if they push the button in the box someone they do not know will die and they will receive a lot of money.
Again, it sounds silly but so did a movie about a teenage boy who talks to a bunny rabbit named Frank, and we know how well that turned out (really well). The trailer is weird and creepy, and totally smacks of Richard Kelly. Count me in! The movie will hit theaters Oct. 30. To watch the trailer for yourself, read more.

Not an original concept. This was a twilight zone or something. The catch is once you push the button and you get what you want, someone you don't know gets the box next and you are told about it after.
1Frank the bunny still haunts my dreams!!!!!
2This movie looks creepy! I think I'll have to see it.
3I think it looks really weird. But have to see it haha
4oooh, I can't wait to see this
5I don't know. Donnie Darko was good but Southland Tales was a HOT MESS. So I'm not sure what to think about this one.
6I have to agree with Samantha999, this sounds like an old Twilight Zone ep. And it's filmed like a cheesy 70s movie. Love Marsden, but PASS.
7It sounds like the Monkey's Paw story.
8it is based on the twilight zone episode "Button, Button"
9though from the trailer it looks as though they'll change the outcome
Oh wow, I just watched the trailer. That's one heck of an accent Cameron.
10My best friend and I love James Marsden. We'll definately go see it
11"Button, Button" was a short story published in Playboy by Richard Matheson. The story and the Twilight episode end differently. I am interested to see which one they choose.
121.) the button looks like the button from "Deal or No Deal"
2.) Cameron Diaz's accent is about as believable as a polka dotted unicorn.
3.) I was waiting for Justin Timberlake to jump out and start singing "Dick in a Box" throughout the entire preview.
13Yeah I'll totally see this. But Wmchriscrawfo, I totally agree about Cameron's accent. Why even have her do one? Everyone thinks a southern accent is easy but it's not; if you are from the south, a fake one sounds awful. Plus it sounds inconsistent. On the other hand, Frank Langella is awesome. Why can't he get more roles than Cameron?
14Oooh I've read the short story "Button, Button" that this is based on - I'll watch it when it comes out on DVD - I doub't it'll hit theatres where I live...
15arcade fire is doing the soundtrack. i am in. i think that will help me deal with the southern accent.
16I wanted to see it until about halfway through the trailer...now I don't know.
17I think this looks fantastic!
18Did anyone else notice Paris Latsis' name in the credits? What's he doing there?!
haha this is based on the short story "Button, BUtton"
