Sean Penn needs a little break. The Oscar-winning actor has abruptly pulled out of several projects, including the new Farrelly Brothers comedy, The Three Stooges. The casting for this movie has always been a little, well, odd to me, with Jim Carrey set to play Curly, Benicio Del Toro as Moe, and Sean Penn as Larry.
What do you think about Penn dropping out? Is it good to see a spot open up for an actor who is potentially better suited for this comedy (like Will Arnett, Martin Short, or Robert Downey Jr., as MTV suggests)? Or were you fine with the idea of Penn playing Larry?

It sounds like a horrible waste of time, talent and money. Egads.
1Hey, what's Christian Bale doing these days?
2Yes! I was just thinking the other day that him being in the cast ruins it for me, but this... great news - IMO.
3Could have been interesting to see how Sean Penn handled this role, but ultimately, I agree that it is better suited for someone else. What is Johnny Depp up to? He'd be a cool choice.
4I'm glad he is handling his personal life but he could have been good in this. When he is with the right cast he can be a total goofy ham. I'm thinking of him working with DeNiro in We're No Angels.
5i was having a hard time picturing him in the role but i was looking forward to it since i like to see how dynamic he can be so i wonder now who they will get to fill the role instead.
