Fresh from his final spin of the big wheel and his 19th Daytime Emmy Award win, Bob Barker kept making headlines over the weekend by saying Rosie O'Donnell could follow him as host of "The Price is Right."

In the press room after the Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony, Barker said of O'Donnell (who, by the way, actually took out a full-page ad in Variety to express interest in the job):
"She knows the show. There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that discussed. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men."
I'm not quite sure how I feel about Rosie hosting "Price" (on the one hand, she has the energy for it; on the other hand, she's pretty polarizing), but I just have to mention Barker using the words "lady host." In anyone else's mouth, that would sound a little sexist, but coming from him, it's oddly quaint and endearing. Oh, Bob. I'll miss you.
By the way, other people mentioned as possible replacement hosts have been Todd Newton of E!, Mark Steines of "Entertainment Tonight," George Hamilton, John O'Hurley, and Mario Lopez, though that last one was apparently just a rumor. So, do you think Rosie could do it?

I sure as hell hope not.
I hope not, too.
I hope John O'Hurley gets the job. I
him.
I don't see middle America and the Military appreciating someone like Rosie on that show. Can she not talk about sexuality. I don't have a problem with her really but she is so vocal about everything it won't fair well with people you see on this show. Instead, control the pet population-spay or neuter your pets- Rosie will say what? Stop this war- stop Bush!
at the very least it'll be interesting. I think she can really pull it off, and I do think she's capable of toning down her touchy chatter. She could potentially be an great personality for the show! Although, I'm not too sure how well Rosie would be able to mesh with the announcer and the models. Maybe the problem is that I'm picturing her in that t-shirt and denim jacket...in a suit, I think she may mesh.
no no no no no no no no no no no no no no noooooo NO!
i'd love john ohurley or george hamilton in the show!
I seriously think it would upset a lot of people if that happened. And it definitely wouldn't be the same kind of show anymore.
I wish Rosie would just go away already! What an obnoxious woman she is...and not for her beliefs, just in general!
No way! I think they should just put the show to rest anyway. It had a good long run but no one can replace Bob.
Bleh, I've never liked rosie and I like her even less now that she's always picking fights with random people. I don't remember how she became famous in the first place? She's just pathetically immature.
Bob had an opinion on one thing: spay or neuter your pet. Rosie is way too opinionated and can get obnoxious (in my opinion). They need someone who will stick to putting the show first and themselves second.
I think Rosie would be WONDERFUL!! I love her.
I think she would be great! She has a lot of enthusiasm, loves to give away prizes and has a ton of energy. I haven't watched the Price is Right in years - I'd definitely watch it if Rosie is the new host.
I think it's going to be difficult for whoever takes over. I mean, Bob Barker is a fixture in television and obviously for that show. I just can't picture anyone else taking over that role!
Sure, we could put a twist on things ... a game show hosted by the mentally insane ... bad idea very very bad
I think she would need a better platform than tis, something where her comedy can be showcased and she has more interaction with people, I don't think a game show is the right place for her unless it's like Hollywood Squares or something
I don't really think she'd push her issues as much on a show like the Price is Right. The View was a format specifically made for the hosts to air their opinions etc. The Price is Right is just a game show. I don't think, if she hosted, that she would get politically preachy. I'd think she knows there is a time and a place.
There will be no more Price is Right if that happens!
Lets ruin a perfectly good, political free show with that cow who can't shut her mouth.
Oh please, no! In the right forum, Rosie can shine, but this is definitely not the right show for her or for the viewers.
No one can replace Bob!!!!!
I would love to claw her. Unless she wants to feed me or scracth my ears--in which case, I will wait to claw her until she is done.
No way!!!!!!!!
NOO! Say it ain't so! She has such a dominating personality that she seems more like a talk show host or something, but not a game show host. Plus, I'm kinda tired of hearing Donald Trump talking about her.
rosie could never fill bob`s shoes..
soo why even try?
i really would hope she doesn't replace him.
Uh, no.
I love that Bob Barker thinks the big problem with Rosie hosting is "whether they want a lady host" as opposed to "whether they want a pit bull for a host."
nooooooooooo not rosie. love her but not for this
Hmmmm... I dunno.... can she really replace bob and get a beautiful perma-tan?
This is such a bad idea. I don't dislike Rosie, I pretty much have a neutral opinion about her, but first off, I don't think she fits in the atmosphere of the show, second off, I agree with everybody else that there's no way she's not going to at least throw in some sort of little political or personal opinion or statement into the show and The Price Is Right is not something people watch to hear somebody talk about their opinion on the war in Iraq. Further into that point, the largest age group that watches The Price Is Right - the elderly - is not the age group that watches Rosie shows. Lastly, when it comes down to it, I don't think anybody could replace Bob Barker, The Price Is Right is what it is because of him and no host could ever live up to his precedent.
Well the one thing that Rosie could bring to the game show is better sponsored prize's. Say what you will about her big mouth... she knows how to get the good stuff for free. I still tend to think she will end up with her own show again and not take on someone else's. I don't think she works well with others who she can't run... so I just don't see her taking on a show that she does not have complete control over. I also see a male being the new host of Price is Right too.
Rosie couldn't replace a pile of poop.
no way!!!
She's way too egocentric for the show!
i think not.
if she gets the gig i swear i will NEVER watch my beloved price is right again.
I know some people who went to a taping two years ago of Price Is Right and they said that Bob Barker was sort of a jerk but Rosie would ruin it completely. Whether Bob Barker is Santa or Satan he still made that show a nice family type classic and Rosie would make it crass and disgusting
