MTV Mondays are (sadly) becoming must-see TV for me again tonight, with the return of two of my favorite guilty pleasures: "My Super Sweet 16" and "Engaged & Underage." Neither is exactly classy television, but both are weirdly addictive.
I love the spectacle and the excess of the spoiled brats on "Sweet 16," and I both curse their indulgent parents and wonder what it would have been like to have my daddy make me a custom perfume when I turned 16. Besides, the show contributed to one of my favorite news stories of the past year: The father of participant Ariel is being sued in federal court by investors who weren't sure where he'd gone with their money — until he showed up on MTV.
"Engaged & Underage," on the other hand, was actually occasionally sweet in its first season. Sure, a few of the couples seemed wildly unprepared for marriage, but others honestly acted like they were in their relationships for life. And for a pure awkward-moment-per-hour ratio, it can't be beat; anyone else see the episode where the girl asked her future mother-in-law to give her a bikini wax?
Joining those two is the fourth — yes, fourth — season of "Making the Band." This time, Diddy will be at work making an all-male R&B group. Tell me: Will you be checking out any of MTV's Monday shows this summer?

I love Super Sweet 16. But probably for all the wrong reasons - it gives me telly-rage! I can shout at those horrible kids with the idiotic parents and not feel bad. It's like my very own therapy!
1I will not be watching any of these shows b/c they make me sick. I weep for the children of the next generation.
2I'm glad "Engaged & Underage" is back. I had not heard whether it would be or not 'til I saw it here on "What to TiVo!"
3P Diddy just needs to give up on Making the Band, none of groups he puts together ever become popular!
4I spent part of a day watching a few episodes during a marathon of the Sweet 16 crap...I must say, I had the biggest headache by the end.
Fourth Making the Band?! I can't think of any of Sean Combs' bands, I guess mandy's right.
5Am I the only one who gets sooo depressed watching engaged and underage? I think it's the saddest show ever.
6i love my super sweet 16 && making of the band is nice too but how many of them is he gonna do? i mean..it took him three seasons to make one band..&& now he`s at it again..more power to him i suppose..engaged and underage was kind of okay at first but i think its lame..who cares that your young && getting married...

8Thank you for remind me!!! I have just selected Sweet Sixteen and Engaged and Underage on my Tivo. I will not be watching Making the Band though. I am over it. Plus, the Prince William and Harry interview is on then!
9did anyone just watch Sweet sixteen... that girl was a monster.. if i was her mother i would feel horribly that i raised sucha monster. I wanted to kick her.
10I hateeee Sweet 16 and I think it's time for Diddy to give up on making a band but I will probaly watch Engaged and Underage because I saw a couple of episodes last season and it's deff one of those shows you get sucked into and you're not sure why haha

I hate sweet sixteen, but it's addictive once you start watching an episode... Engaged and Underage is boring. I want The Hills/Laguna Beach!
