After seeing the trailer for 1408, a new horror film starring John Cusack, I have to admit that the man's getting older, and it's starting to show. And while I found the trailer to be effectively creepy, I must say I prefer my John Cusack when he's being funny.
Whether he's holding a boom box in front of a girl's house or making "Top 5" lists for everything in his life, John Cusack with his sad-puppy face just gets me every time. For better or worse, he's had a pretty extensive career so far, but just so this list doesn't get too long, I've narrowed down the choices to some of his better-known roles.
It's hard to pick just one, isn't it?

"The Adventures of Natty Gahn"- one of my first crushes
1For me it was a toss-up between High Fidelity and Being John Malkovich. Both were incredible and are smong my favourite movies but I finally had to go with High Fidelity just because it has Top 5 lists for just about everything (which was one of my favourite pass times in high school) and several mix-tapes are made in the duration of the film.
He also rocked in Con Air!
2It was between High Fidelity and Say Anything. so tough! And don't forget The Sure Thing!!! that movie made me squirt Sprite out of my nose b/c I was laughing so hard!

But Ione Skye bugs the piss out of me in "Say Anything" and "High Fidelity" wins out over "Malkovich" just because of its kickass soundtrack.

13Grosse Pointe Blank, I LOVE that movie, I especially love his sisters playing parts in it too! The whole cast rocked! A very close second is Say Anything, I had In Your Eyes on repeat in my stereo forever!

22I had to pick between Malkovich, which I think is beyond awesome, Grosse Pointe Blank, which I totally love, and High Fidelity. I went with High Fidelity, but it's a toss up.
23I absolutely loved him in a film called "Max" co-starring Noah Taylor and Leelee Sobieski. It's about a post WW1 modern art dealer (JC) who takes a then unknown Adolf Hitler under his wing as an aspiring artist (based on true Hitler accounts but a fictionalized portrait). A gripping "what if" hypothesis about that time in history. Highly recommended for any Cusack fan. Though, he does it for me in any role.

27Aaaa! I can't pick just one. As a self-proclaimed big fan, folks often ask me to pick my fave John Cusack movie and I always ask for clarification. For example, I think his film w/ his best acting & w/ the most artistic merit is The Grifters, his most romantic film is Say Anything, his sexy-manliest film is The Jack Bull, his most-identifiable-with-my-life-and-therefore-perhaps-what-most-would- call-MY-favorite film is High Fidelity, etc. Can you tell that I'm a HUGE dork?

30Grosse Point Blank... it was perfect. Love the music... loved Minnie... loved the whole hired killer having a meltdown at his high school reunion. Heck I even loved Piven!
31I just saw Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil last night. It was so awful I had to stand up and walk around to keep from falling asleep. Other than the very few scenes with Jude Law, it was a major yawn.
