Word on the street is the next Tomb Raider movie will be a prequel in which Lara Croft's origin story is revealed. Producer Dan Lin is all kinds of excited for the next movie, saying this one will be "more realistic" than past movies. He continued, "I would say it's like Terminator — character-driven action. I think for me the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action, but with character." And Angelina Jolie will not be reprising her role, since the origin story will require a young Lara Croft.
There were some mixed feelings about this project initially, but now that it sounds like it'll be a different take on the role (so, not a straight remake of stuff Jolie's already done), are you any more sold on it? What young actress do you think could step into the butt-kicking boots of a younger Lara Croft?

I hope they cast a complete unknown who can kick some butt, do a killer accent (if she has to fake it) and who looks like Lara Croft, not necessarily Angelina (who Megan resembles more than the actual video game character)
7I like the submission of Kat Dennings, I'm not excited for a Tomb Raider movie because I'm just not a fan but I think she could kick some ass, plus she could act.

24Hm...I vote for an unknown as well. I loved the original games, and I love Angie's role in the original Tomb Raider movies, and I'm excited for this as well. Although I will be very upset if they choose Megan Fox; her voice seems too....not Lara to me. I don't think she could pull off a realistic accent.

30summer glau and olivia wilde are great ideas. Basically anyone NOT megan fox. It's not that I don't like her, really the only thing i've ever seen her do is Transformers which wasn't really any acting, but I'm so sick of the comparisons of her and angelina it's getting old!

2) Mila Kunis is too short - good if Lara had a younger, shorter sister maybe?
3) Neither Dushku/ Bilson can act (also again, Bilson is waaaay short - whilst actors can bulk up etc. her frame is literally so small I don't see how casting her would work unless the films about a 14 yr old Lara!)
Sorry bout all the negativity but I really don't think that there have been any suitable suggestions. Some of the actresses suggested are absolutely gorgeous but either don't have the body/ acting ability to play Lara. I think they're better going for an unknown or something.....
32They really lucked out with Angelina the first time - she IS Lara - face, body etc.
Based on general looks alone, besides Megan Fox, maybe Jessica Lowndes (new 90210) or Ashley Greene (Twilight). Not sure about the acting shops, but regardless, there's no equal substitution for Angelina
33Oh, and I do like the idea of Olivia Wilde as well. I guess it depends on how "young" the studio wants to go.

IMO, Megan Fox and Olivia Wilde - biologically, they may be younger than Angelina - but they don't look THAT much younger...they don't look any younger now than Angelina did in the first Tomb Raider movie...so don't see how that would work for a pre-quel.
35Please do not pick Megan Fox... If they are going for more character in these films they should choose someone with acting chops. I'd hope they wouldn't sink so low as to cast the Angelina wannabe.

And I'm not the only one who says this. Go check out the Tomb Raider forums and you'll see that most of the real Tomb Raider fans also do NOT want Megan Fox for the role. Anyone, BUT Megan Fox. If they choose Megan for the role, then they ruin the whole movie with this. Not worth watching. Leave Megan for the Transformers movies for horny teenage boys and puberty girls. We want class for the Tomb Raider movies, not some porno looking, B class actress to ruin it. I would consider Kristin Kreuk....since she's younger and she does have the longish, cat like eyes and the lips. And with a little work, she can look smashing and very Lara like. Megan just doesn't fit the profile. Sorry Megan, but I guess you need to re-change your face with some more plastic surgery. Kristin Kreuk, that's my option. Also, Kate Beckinsale isn't bad either, but Kristin looks younger.
