Charles Dickens's 19th-century classic, A Christmas Carol, has been adapted to film in many different forms over the years. The long list includes Mickey's Christmas Carol, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Scrooged starring Bill Murray, and most recently the Matthew McConaughey/Jennifer Garner romantic comedy (loose) version of the story, among others.

Now we have a first look at another Disney production of the holiday story starring Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge (he also plays the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come). Directed by Robert Zemeckis, it looks like a straight-up telling of the tale using some cool technology. As visually impressive as this movie looks, though, are you interested in seeing another version of A Christmas Carol?

that animation.. it's gross-looking
whats the point of
another animated Scrooge movie if you don't bring it in the art department? And you can't do a thing with the story except beat it with a stick x)
1There's always room for new versions of the story if it does actually stick to the original Dickens telling. I don't consider that McCoughanhahouhey movie a version of this story whatsoever.
My favorite will always be the Alastair Sim version, although I do love the Muppet one. But I think this new one could be really good. Gary Oldman is voicing a few of the characters. He would never be in anything bad.
2The Muppet version is the best! But I love Jim Carrey and Bob Zemeckis, so I am looking forward to this one as well. When is it supposed to come out?
3well.. I do love the muppet version, but I love anything with muppets in it
4I think this movie looks interesting, especially with actors like Jim Carrey and Gary Oldman involved. I also enjoyed the Muppet version as well...
5Im a fan of the story but few movies do it justice. I love the original that was made in the early 30's and the Muppets version is a classic, but i am interested in seeing this one i think that animation style is a good fit for the story it adds to the eery, ghostly factor.
6"The long list includes Mickey's Christmas Carol, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Scrooged starring Bill Murray"
A cartoon, a puppet show and a comedy?! No mention of "Scrooge", starring Ailaster Sim?!
It is THE version, and none can compare.
That said, I liked Scrooged with Bill Murray and I'll give this movie a chance, because theres a twist.
7Whoops, I didn't read carefully enough, the twist I was referring to was the Garner/MM version.
I like Jim Carrey, but I'm not excited at all for this.
8I favour the 1951 version, and I don't see that changing, but they might surprise me.
I don't mind either way as long as NOBODY tries to remake Scrooged.
9That movie is my fav holiday film ever!
Yes it looks cute!
