Ever since Precious (previously known as Push: Based on the Novel by Sapphire) took this year's Sundance Film Festival by storm, I've been waiting anxiously for this trailer. The movie stars Mo'Nique as a mother who constantly berates and emotionally abuses her daughter, played by newcomer Gabourey Sidibe.

The trailer makes this movie look absolutely brutal and emotionally intense — but Oprah and Tyler Perry teamed up to help get it distributed, which makes me hopeful that there's some uplifting content along the way. Regardless, I'm always interested in stories that treat complicated mother-daughter relationships honestly — even if they are tough to watch.
The movie overall and Mo'Nique's performance in particular are already receiving Oscar buzz, which is pretty amazing (if a little early). I'm also intrigued by some of the other big names in this cast, including Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz.
The movie is targeted for a November 6, 2009 release. To watch the trailer, read more.

Wow, intense! But it looks really, really interesting.
1I'm really looking forward to seeing this.
2wow, I hope I get a chance to check that out
3Lionsgate and the Weinstein company are in a lawsuit over this film...It may never be released. Thank you for this trailer!! Mo was not at the Cannes Film festival for the screening (why?) This is a great film, I am waiting along with the rest of the world for the legal stuff to end!
4I'm in tears. This looks like its a hard film to watch but I'll definitely watch it.
5i cried too the first time i saw the trailer. That is the life of some people. I can't believe that is the life of some people. And I am complaining that my life is hard.
6wow! that was intense!
7sounds really interesting
too bad it doesn't premier until november!
That was so sad, but I just don't think I could get over the Mariah Carey as a therapist/welfare worker aspect of it. I also think they balanced the content of the trailer out well, when I was getting REALLY sad about the situation, they showed her and the baby and it made me smile. I would love to see it (and just block out the MC aspect).
8This is one of my favorite books, and I am not sure the movie will do it justice.
9Amazing trailer. I can't wait to watch this. Reminds me of another favorite of mine, Half Nelson.
10wow. Not everyday that a trailer makes me cry!
11Definitely on my list to watch and read!
I cried like a baby the first time I saw this trailer. I plan on reading the book, and seeing the movie. It looks really sad, but I've heard it has a good ending. I can't wait for it to come out!
12wow this looks really good, and the best part - I didn't even recognize MC for a good few seconds! Can't wait til november
13whoa. this looks like it could be good. I don't know if I would watch it though. too darn realistic, too close to home with how abusive my mother was, and her mother, etc.
14I really want to see this. I was almost bawling during the trailer. And Mariah doesn't even look like herself, so I can get over not believing her as a social worker.
15I saw a clip on Oprah the other day and OMG it is so heart wrenching how realistic it is in some homes. I will so watch and pretend the social worker in someone with substance.
16Jeeze, that trailer was intense. Looking forward to seeing this movie.
17It looks really promising! I can't wait to see it.
18you know it's good when i cried during the trailer!!
19Darn it, now I see why all you other poster said you cried. I totally got choked up. I really want to see this.
20wow! i'm definitely gonna see this, and mariah carey can't stop me, i didn't even recognize her to be honest. but it looks really good.
21This is a film is going to open the eyes of so many people and people realizes that some lives are hard and will be grateful for what they have. This preview put me in the verge of tears. I feel so bad for this girl! Mariah looks so different!!! I hope she gets praised for this role rather than in the movie Glitter!
22I am really hoping this gets out on the scheduled date. It's my birthday and it stars a true Baltimore grown star - Mo'Nique
23I read the book years ago and I couldn't believe what i was reading. I would love to see the words of this young woman come to life
24omg ! i cant believe how good this trailer looks i read this book and absolutely couldnt believe a mother &* father could be like this to there precious gift their child smh cannot wait for the movie to comeout &&* the new actress Gabourey Sidibe. is amazing i see.
25I am more than 1/2 way through the book and my heart completely hurts for Precious. In the book, she endures more than the average person could take. If the movie is as good as the trailer and book, it's a must see.
26The book is great, and I can't wait to see Mo put her real life experience on it. The little girl has a tough part as well. Read the book if you can.
27They both deserve an Oscar!!!!
( We shall see people)

I most definitily have to go see this movie.I love Mo'Nique and never seen her perform in this type of film...LOVE IT....I know this is going to be one of the best movies.
29WOW...This was my life...How my Mother treated Me...I was so emotional when I saw the Trailer...Watched it with my Daughter...Now she understands why sometimes I get so sad...Emotional Abuse...Is the Hardest to Overcome...And Only thru the grace and mercy of the Father am I able to do so...
30I read the book a few years ago and the trailer does go along with it. I just hope the movie ends on a happier note than the book did......
31I bought the book at a garage sale years because the title just jumped out at me. I read it and I just cried like a big baby. Precious suffered from so much mental, emotional and sexual abuse. This story needed to be put on film because it gives hope.
32When I saw the trailer I was in tears. Because I can relate to her it took a lot to over come the abuse. Now that i can say that I am happy as I can be with my own family that loves me for me. I am with this move 100% and any other ladies thats going through the same thing.
33I want to see this movie...I have been looking and looking for a theatre that's showing it...No luck.I'll just keep looking
