The network TV Upfronts officially get underway on Monday in New York, and gossip is already flying about which shows will return, which will be canceled, and which highly anticipated pilots will earn a spot on the TV schedule. Here's a little roundup of some of the buzz I'm hearing as the big week approaches:
- At the CW, which presents on Thursday, it looks like the Melrose Place spinoff and Vampire Diaries are a lock for the schedule. Apparently Privileged is still in the hunt for the last open spot along with a couple of other pilots, while the latest on the Gossip Girl spinoff is that it could be picked up for midseason.
- At ABC, which presents Tuesday, signs are getting even clearer that Scrubs will return. Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke have both signed deals for six episodes, and others (including Donald Faison and John C. McGinley) would return if their pilots don't get picked up.
- There's also some buzz that Scrubs could switch to a multicamera format — which is also the latest word on Samantha Who? Switching formats could make those series much cheaper to produce.
- While it's a long shot, Reaper may not be dead after all, with the studio considering selling it in syndication or moving it to cable.
- In addition to Human Target and Sons of Tucson, Fox — which kicks off the week with a Monday presentation — has picked up a reincarnation drama called Past Life and ex-NFL player Michael Strahan's comedy, Brothers. It's also reportedly said no to the remake of Absolutely Fabulous.
All of this can change, but what do you think so far? Any shockers? Pilots whose fates you're most curious to learn?

thanks! I love TV updates!
1woohoo pumped for Vampire Diaries!
2Ugh, seriously ABC? Scrubs needs to be taken out back and shot. It's tired, and when you watch episodes from the early seasons, so depressing to see where it has fallen to. They even did an episode parodying the multicamera approach ("My Life In Three Cameras"), and now they might switch to it? Plus, and I might be alone in this, I find Zach Braff is a bit of a douche.
3scrubs is like that old lady on greys anatomy who codes, gets the shock and is alive again. and again. and again. LOL can we put it to rest finally? it was good for its first like, 10 seasons.
4I agree with the Scrubs comments. They had a good run... in the beginning. It's time to put it to bed.
I'll probably watch Vampire Diaries because I haven't seen Ian Somerhalder in forever. LOL
Honestly, I'm more concerned about what shows will/will not be returning...
5I love Scrubs, but the season finale was too perfect. They need to let it go. If they want to make another comedy with the interns, I'd give it a shot. But let the rest of the Scrubs cast go.
6DOLLHOUSE IS A GO!
Or so I hear.
