In Praise of the TV Prom
Many of you felt my pain when it came to
this week's episode of Gossip Girl. Thanks to the
Lily flashbacks, just a few Upper East Side prom scenes got squeezed in between trips back to '80s LA — and that means an entire generation of
GG fans got cheated out of the kind of episode that can be the highlight of a teen TV show's lifespan. So I've gathered up some memories of favorite proms from TV shows past. It won't fill the void left by
GG, but it might help.

How could you leave out the Buffy prom episode? It's got everything - heartbreak, comedy, and Buffy beating the crap out of some hellhounds to save the prom. Then, between Angel showing up for a final dance and Buffy getting her Class Protector award, the ending always makes me tear up. It's perfect!

2who cares? prom is the stupidest, boring, most cliche tv moment in every series - I was happy that I onlky had to choke down a few stupid minutes and instead got to enjoy the fabulous 80's!
3I know it's not a "teen" show, but my all time favorite prom scene (actually one of my favorite scenes on TV ever) is Queer as Folk's prom scene between Justin and Brian. It's just...peer magic (until the tragic end of course.) I usually find prom scenes cliche, but that one tugs at my heart strings every time.

8Hey guys, it's not a comprehensive list — just a few favorites that came to mind for me on a certain day. I left one of my other favorites off, too: The Grey's Anatomy hospital prom!

11Yea the Buffy prom when Angel shows up & they dance to that Wild Horses song was sooo heartbreaking, probably my all-time fav! But from this list, my favorite has to be Dawson's Creek! Love love love Joey & Pacey!!! Their chemistry was undeniable! Awww if only my prom would've been that good! Prom on tv = awesome, prom in real life = sucks! LOL
