i think that they should be clear about what you're getting. in most cases i think that the screens are HUGE but in the cases that they aren't - you should know so you don't go in paying more and expecting more.

I've actually wondered if the Burbank one is full size, because the building doesn't seem like it would be. Irritating for sure.

I agree that they should be more clear; or rather not have it at all; but the consumer also has to take a little of the blame. if something ever says "experience," LOOK INTO IT! it's just common sense; it's like when something says it's "flavored;" doesn't mean it';s actually made of that ingredient. I can honestly say that I figured it out a couple months ago when Watchmen came out. we wanted to see it in IMAX, but the closest one is about 30 minutes away (and I live in LA). I went to the website of my home theatre, saw it was playing in "The IMAX Experience," and, skeptical, loooked into what that means. I understand this man's frustration, but the main problem is that many businesses capitalize on people's stupidity and lack of logic. yeah, they're the evil ones, but you need to protect yourself by THINKING...

First, yes, I would be upset. However, if I walked in and saw a smaller theater than I was expecting I would walk out right then and ask for a $5 refund and a ticket to a normal theater. Why this guy watched the entire movie then decided to complain about the screen is beyond me.

It's a total rip-off. Here we have 4 very distinct IMAX theaters, so when I looked up which IMAX theaters were offering Star Trek I was blown when I see listings for AMC and Regals...theaters that I have frequented and don't count as the "distinct" IMAX...it's bogus and I agree with him 100%!!!

if you think it's a rip off; DON'T GO. the company is free to sell their product and as consumers you have a choice.

another thing imax does is cut out alot of the movie. so youre paying more money to not even see the entire movie. i went to see star wars episode 2 on imax after i had already seen it on a regular screen opening night...and i was pissed that a few of the good scenes were cut out.

I saw Superman and a Harry Potter movie on IMAX. The movies do not take up the entire screen, so it really isn't a better experience. I think it's complete crap to see films on IMAX.

And I hated Superman. It was the 3-D version, which was only 3-D during the excessive flying scenes (wish they had just cut those out and made the move MUCH shorter).

I will not do a film on IMAX screen again.

I took my family to the Regal theater in Simi Valley for the IMAX version of Madagascar II. Total waste of money. The screen was the same size. I didn't notice a difference at all. Learned my lesson.

Oh, and reading some of the earlier posts that suggest walking out and getting your money back, try telling that to a 6 year old.

I can't imagine movies not made specifically for IMAX being any different...I do love the real IMAX films you tend to see in museums and other non-traditional movie theater locations...that being said, the regular Loews down the road tends to advertise movies in IMAX and I always wondered how that might work...clearly, it's just the "experience," which, to me, is an odd word since the experience would seem to mean actually experiencing something...

I called the local AMC and Regal that advertise IMAX screens. I asked what size the screens are. The answer "It's floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall" was useless. They couldn't give an actual size. Even when they asked the manager on duty, they still couldn't give a screen size. So how exactly is the customer supposed to know if it's a "real" IMAX theater or not?
