Just after the box office success of He's Just Not That Into You around Valentine's Day this year, Garry Marshall announced that he's working on a similar movie — intersecting love lives of a whole slew of people, this time set in LA — to open Valentine's Day weekend next year. The title? Valentine's Day. Now the project has a bunch of big names attached, including Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Shirley MacLaine, Bradley Cooper, and Ashton Kutcher. The Hollywood Reporter breaks down the many roles:
— Roberts is an army officer on leave from Iraq on a flight to L.A. Cooper, on the same flight, is a gay man whose lover is a closeted football player.
— Kutcher is an owner of a flower shop who proposes to his girlfriend (Alba), only to realize he is in love with his close friend, played by Garner, who discovers her boyfriend is married.
— MacLaine plays Roberts' mother, a happy retiree who reveals to her husband a long-ago affair.
— Hathaway is an assistant working at the biggest talent agency in town and dating a mailroom assistant; Biel is a publicist unlucky in love (is there any other kind?) who has no date on Valentine's Day.
Major roles still to be cast are the gay football player, MacLaine's husband, the mailroom worker, a talent agent and a young boy looking to give his crush some flowers.
I adore this ensemble cast (there's a little Alias reunion!) and I can't wait to see how they all work together. I just hope this cast gets something better to work with than He's Just Not That Into You. Maybe it'll turn out to be more like Love Actually. One thing's for sure: New Line Cinema sure knows how to lure women to the theaters on Valentine's Day weekend. What do you think about this cast?

Oh. At first I thought it was a He's Just Not That Into You sequel at first glance.
1Thanks for pointing out the Alias reunion, Buzz! My favorite show ever (don't even get me started on the Alias cast members who popped up in Star Trek lol)! This movie sounds really cute.
2I like it!
3At first I was like "not another rom-com", but it sound ok so far, I need to hear more about it though...
4Sounds cute, I think anything with Julia Roberts name attached will do good. I may not watch because Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel are in it, then again I like Jennifer Garner and Julia Roberts as actresses. I'm so confused I will just watch it.
5Yeah it's a bit of a 50/50 for me. I can't stand Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba and Ashton Kutcher.
6i'm actually a fan of ensemble movies like this - cause it means that you get to see your favs all in one place. we'll just have to wait and see trailers from it in the coming months.
7Usually I am a rom-com girl, but this sounds like a big fail. I loved Love Actually and I liked HJNTITY and this movie looks like a rip off of both.
I only like half the cast. Ashton is annoying. And having both Jessica's in one movie will be torture. Biel and Alba are terrible actresses. I dunno, I'll think I will pass on this movie.
8I love Garry Marshall movies and I'll go see it if he takes Jessica Biel out of it. Point blank, her ass doesn't belong in that category.
9Wait a gay football player? and Hathaway is yet another assistant? No thank you.
10The American version of Love Actually (which btw is a good movie so this could be interesting)
11I like the movies with the big ensemble cast, so this could be good. However, I'm probably the only one who didn't love Love Actually.
12Wow - the stories that are going to come from set are probably going to be crazy. The cast looks great - I'm also excited about the Alias reunion.
13This will be a pass for me, can't stand this bunch except Mrs Maclaine and Bradley Cooper but I am afraid these two won't be enough to drag me at the theather. HJNTITY was great, this just sounds like a bad copy.
14I like Garry Marshall movies, and some of these actors are good choices but their roles seem out of character for them. Julia Roberts as an army officer? Bradley Cooper as a gay man? and Jessica Biel as a a girl who is dateless on V-day? I just don't buy it...I'll have to see previews to know if it's any good.
15this sounds awesome!!!
i'm a sucker for chick flicks!!!
16I don't like Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher or Julia Roberts. I probably won't be watching this movie. Bad casting job. These actors are has beens.
17It sounds really cool, but did you know Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift and Emma Roberts are also in the cast. This is gonna be an amazing movie!!!!
18Taylor Lautner is the only reason am going to see it! I've seen the other actors in so many movies I'd be bored but am ready for that beautiful fresh face of Taylor's alone side with some of my favorites.(smile) I also love the rest of the cast to don't you know.
