Most of you were at least a little excited to see Gossip Girl introduce its potential Lily spinoff on Monday. Well, now that we've seen the sample scenes, do you think the show could work as a series? Or is this one trip to the '80s that you'd be just as happy to cut short?

I really didn't like it. Honestly, I thought all of the 80's scenes were really overacted, with cheesy dialogue. It sort of reminded me of early 90210, which had its place at the time, but not anymore. As much as I love Gossip Girl, I wouldn't watch the spinoff if it turned into an independent series.
1oh i'm confused.
2i thought this was a spin off series not just a spin off episode!
i'm from the uk so i've not seen it yet..... i've been asking when it was going to air if it was even coming to the uk. but obviously if it's just an episode it will be. i can't wait to see it!
c4rollin3 — you'll definitely see this episode. It was basically a test for the CW (the network that carries it here in the US) to decide if they want to make it a full series. We'll find that out next week.
3it could work..the only problem might be that most of the ppl around here that watch it were either babies or not even born yet in the 80s and have no clue about the way ppl talked and dressed back in the day so the dialogue might annoy them if they don't tone down the cheesy 80s talk
4Worst episode of GG ever. It was boring to the point I thought about turning it off.
5no - i think that it was kind of annoying actually. i LOVE andrew and was thrilled that he's the dad -but otherwise there wasn't much to the series snippet
6I totally disagree!!! I LOVED it!! I really enjoyed seeing the explanation behind Lily's rebellious character which has been highlighted in her relationship with Rufus and her mother. I also liked the transition between the two shows (past and present) with Lily reflecting on her own formative years as she is trying to teach Serena a lesson. Not to mention the fashion was to die for!! I can't wait to see how the relationship between Lily and the VanderWoodsen kid (Serena's dad / the music video director) plays out. I hope the CW picks it up for the Gossip Girl off season.
7I have to agree with sweetheeart I really enjoyed it last night. I have been going back and forth between GG and DWTS every monday for the past couple weeks but this was the first week that I didn't flip back to DWTS because I was "Totally" into the show!
8On the other hand- I am probably one of the older views of GG (I am 30) so I was around in the 80's and loved the 80's and I love Brittany Snow! I enjoyed it and I was thinking at time this is good but how can they keep it going as a show and not just similar to a movie but I often think that for most new series.
I only liked the No Doubt part
9I didn't mind it so much, I just didn't like the flashing back and forth in the episode. I wish it had just been an entire episode of present time
10I hate Lily's love interest he looks like the guy that will slip you a pill in your drink...EW! Totally gross.
And this episode was horrible...flashing and back and forth..and the whole Blair and Nate break up...too fast..like the writers just decided "lets just throw something in". Was looking forward to Georgina scheming
11I wasnt that keen on the idea but really enjoyed the scenes in the show (even if they didnt really relate to the show) id definatly give it a whirl
12Are you people nuts? It was totally awesome! Better than Gossip Girl!
13i thought it was good... owen's a hottie, and there were a few funny moments (ie lily wanting to be a prostitute except, "are BJs a must? because if that's the case, i'm SO not doing that!")
it wasn't as good as regular gg but i would totally watch the spinoff if it got picked up
14I grew up in the 80's that shizz is nothing like the 80's
15The only thing I was thankful for was that we didn't go completely over to Young Lily and we still got the rest of the characters and the prom.
Didn't like it Didn't like the characters. Didn't care about their "world." About 20 minutes was enough for me.
16I ended up kind of liking it; I think probably because I began with such low expectations, haha. I don't know if Brittany Snow is the best fit for Lily, though. But I thought it had potential
17It has potential but I mean, we kinda know how it's gonna end so it's hard (for me at least) to enjoy the love interests they were setting up.
18i did NOT appreciate the intrusion during gossip girl, i was sooo annoyed. not to mention, the chick who plays young lily was quite annoying - i get it, she's supposed to be this clueless, rich brat but so was alicia silverstone in clueless but yet she was still charming?!
19YES. I'm so hooked. I was sad when the episode ended last night, I really wanted to see more.
20I've always loved Lilly, and now I'm like-ohmyfreak-the mother was really cool and perfectly snobby, and how the heck does Lilly end up with Van Der Woodsen after such a unfriendly first meeting? When does Mr. Humphrey show up, and will we also see a young Bart Bass and maybe his deceased wife, Chuck's mom?
I totally want more dirty 80's LA!
I thought it was actually interesting! Much better than the pilot episode of 90210. Brittany Snow was amazing, and I really hope that Andrew McCarthy has a bigger role on the show if it gets picked up. My only complaints are 1.) I didn't like Lily's love interest and (2.) they tried too hard to be '80s. A Rubik's Cube??? really?
21I really liked the cast. Ryan Hansen from Veronica Mars and Serena's dad is Psycho Derek from One Tree Hill. I would watch that.
22I hated the '80 scenes. It got to a point where i wanted to delete the itune file so I did not have it on my laptop. I wanted to see what Georgina was going to do.
23I didn't care for the spinoff scenes, but mostly because they were too forced on the GG episode. But it could make a decent series as long as they give a lot of screen time to Lily's sister (I love Krysten Ritter!) and they get rid of that creepy guy, Owen. Argh, the guy doesn't have one thing going for him! Ah, also, lots of Andrew McCarthy, of course
24LOved the '80s episode. Will totally watch more of it. Definitely agree that the '80s party looked way cooler than the prom. Just throw some Talking Heads in .......
25I like ugg boots
26I really didn't like it. Huge plot lines were left out for some stupid rushed 80 scenes. I did not care for young lily or her storyline at all. The only thing I liked about this episode was prom, I would've liked to see more of that. I wanted an episode of GG and instead I got this half-blown, over cliched and rushed pilot. And yes, her outfit did look like a halloween costume.
