Opening Dec. 11, The Princess and the Frog is the tale of what happens after the princess has decided to actually kiss the frog in the classic tale. Another of Disney's princess stories, this one centers around Princess Tiana (voiced by Dreamgirls' Anika Noni Rose) who lives in New Orleans' French Quarter during the Jazz Age. One of the most exciting things about this project, however, is that it's a return to the hand-drawn animation that so many of us grew up watching in movies like Snow White, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. A few of you mentioned that some of the most inspiring characters to you as kids were found in these movies, like Belle from Beauty and the Beast. To check out the next beloved Disney princess in the new preview for The Princess and the Frog, read more.

Oh I really want to see this! I grew up watching all those old Disney cartoons and I would love to see a good old fashioned drawn movie.

And my heart is warm on a Monday morning.

Oh man I hope this is a return to form for Disney! The stupidest thing they ever did was try to move away from hand drawn animation all together.

I've been following the development of this movie for years, so I'm super excited to see the buzz getting started about it! I can't wait to see it.
Does anyone know if this movie is based on a pre-existing fairy tale? I know most of the classic Disney princess stories are (Snow White, Beauty and the Beast etc), so I was just curious about this one.
Also, I can't wait to see this. I hope this is a true return to form for Disney.
kscincotta — There's a classic Brothers Grimm story called The Frog Prince (and there are other variations of this same story) in which a princess meets a frog that eventually turns into a prince. The Grimm version is a little bit different, but in other versions the princess kisses the frog and he turns into a prince.
Awesome, thanks Buzz! I had been wondering for some time if this was an actual story or just something that they built around the idea of kissing a frog to find a prince.
OMG I cant wait !
Aww, this looks really cute. I'm excited!
I want to see this
Oh I am so excited! I love the classic Disney movies and this one looks great, especially since its set in New Orleans and is the first one to have a black princess. (I'm neither African American nor have I been to New Orleans, but I'm excited nonetheless!)
Im so happy to see Disney go back to it's animation roots.
OMG!!! I can't wait to see this movie. It looks great!
I may watch this just to admire the hand-dawn animation. As much as I like digital special effects, nothing compares to good hand-drawn work. Nothing. JMHO.
i really excited for this, i heard about this about this movie awhile ago!!! I can't wait to watch this movie!! I'm a sucker for Disney movies!!
Can't wait!
It looks awesome! I can not wait to see this
I love Disney movies. I can't wait. I've missed the hand drawn animation.
I'm so excited about this movie! It and Star Trek are my two big movies of the year. 1 down, 1 to go!
