Last weekend X-Men Origins: Wolverine opened to the sweet tune of $85 million, officially marking the beginning of the Summer blockbuster season. Do you think this weekend's newbie, Star Trek, will surpass $85 million at the box office?

I have heard nothing but amazing reviews about Star Trek. As someone who wasn't originally interested in seeing it, I am def considering seeing it this weekend.
1I see Star Trek surpassing Wolverine
2I won't be seeing in theaters probably because I hate crowds and I'm not paying $10, but I think it'll surpass Wolverine! Even if Wolverine hadn't leaked online it would!
3I am seeing it tonight at 7 and yes it will be wolverine.
4I'm seeing it at 11:00 tonight. I'm also going to see it with my Dad on Sunday. I love Wolverine, but I wouldn't go see it twice in one weekend. So yes, Star Trek will win.
5i saw it last night at a private screening at 1am... and even at that time it definetly kept my attention and was AMAZING. i was never a trekkie growing up or anything and saw maybe one episode but WOW! the effects, the subtle comedic lines (not overdone at all, just inserted at perfect moments) and the actors were unbelievable! the guy that was in charlie bartlett was awesome and chris pine/"spock" duo was fabulous.
so great!!!
i hope it surpasses what wolverine made, it definetly deserves to.
6There are some really hardcore Trekies out there, I'm sure they'll watch the movie like 5xs each lol.
7i have a feeling that ST will do better. even though i'm not a star trek fan (i was forced into watching everything star trek when i was younger by my mom and oldest brother)...i'm still interested in seeing the movie.
8I have hope but I don't think it will.
9I'm gonna watch both this weekend. whee!
10I think it will surpass it but I don't know if it will be a huge difference in numbers-
11I think it will based on the good reviews and buzz
12It can, and it will. We're seeing it tonight and I can't wait.
13I would choose the Star Trek movie over Wolverine and I adore Jackman.
14I would rather see Wolverine (and likely will this weekend), but I think Star Trek will beat it out in the box office.
15Star Trek will be much bigger than Wolverine. Wolverine had generally mediocre reviews, but the reviews on Star Trek have been very, very positive. Also, Wolverine was leaked on-line, and some thick-headed fans stayed away in protest to the changes made to the characters.
And I think that there is overall a larger fan base to Star Trek. Combine that with good reviews, and you get a huge hit. J. J. Abrams should be all smiles.
16star trek will totally beat x-men but i do love both i am going to see star trek tonight yipee
17Star Trek opened in Australia last night and it was AMAZING. I'm not a trekkie and this was actually the first Star Trek movie I've ever watched. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it was too short; I just didn't want it to end!
18Who knows if it will surpass Wolverine, but it was awesome! I went dressed as classic Uhura last night for a screening.
Honestly, with six screenings before midnight on a Thursday you can see how they are trying to play the odds in their favor to beat Wolverine.
19Are you serious? There is not a snowball's chance in hell Wolverine will beat Star Trek. Partially because it is its own sub-culture rather than just a part of the Sci-Fi genre and Secondly because reviews so far indicate it is actually a well made, acted and developed movie.

20I saw Star Trek twice on Thursday in Melbourne and it really is amazing.
I'm not sure if it will beat wolverine on the opening weekend but i would bet it will take much more overall.
Trek is a film that will expand it's fan base and one of those films people will want to see more than once.
21Wolverine opened at 7pm on Thursday also. It is the new marketing strategy.
Star Trek is also on approximately 250 less theaters. If it does beat it, I'll be impressed.
22I have been to see both movies and while both are excellent I would definitely say Star Trek had a better story line and was more entertaining. (Spoiler alert!) And if you are playing 6 degrees...Patrick Stewart is in Wolverine who stared with Lenord Nemoy in TNG, etc, etc.
23Saw both, and LOVED both!
24Alas it did not
