It seems just right that Christina Aguilera will make her feature film debut (OK, live-action debut, if we're counting Shark Tale) in a movie musical titled Burlesque. It sounds like she'll be able to easily take on this role:
Aguilera will play an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice who finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club that appears to be right out of Bob Fosse's Cabaret.
Steven Antin, an actor who played Andy's preppy boyfriend Troy Perkins in Goonies, is directing the project.
The "small-town girl making it her own way in a big, bad city" angle seems a little tired, but I am excited to see how this neo-burlesque club turns out. And apparently the movie was written with Aguilera in mind, so I could see this being totally entertaining.

It will probably be crappy, but not as craptastic as Showgirls.

well i think that it'll be interesting to see how talented she is and i guess that it's only fair that she's branching out into movies seeing as how soo many others have already done that.

Actually its supposed to be pretty big...I mean you gotta be stupid to think a movie with Cher and Christina AND about a burlesque dancer will flop? Not likely....plus burlesque is huge right now....and also Christina picked wisely to wanna do this film....she already has that burlesque pin up style as she has shown already in many of her videos and performances...she f*ckin' rocks and she has my vote....she is gorgeous and actually can sing....like real talent. Dont compare this to Showgirls OR Glitter..oh god....or Britney! Christina actually can sing her lungs out. The movie Burlesque will be great. XoXo

15haha I love how everyone mentions 'Glitter'. Christina is a good actress, if anyone else saw her host SNL you'd know that. I'm a true fan, so I have to give it a chance. I mean, everyone did the same thing for Britney when she did 'crossroads', and Beyonce in 'Dreamgirls'.

Come on this movie has success all over it Christina and Cher every gay boi in america will be at the movies opening day LOL. As far as Christina finally making a movie it was about time. Hopefully this movie will lead to other roles she has that sexy, bad ass, Angelina Jolie look that would go well in a action movie. Plus remember SNL she was so funny playing the transexual.
