What the Deal Is:
One of my favorite comedic actors ever, Bill Murray will star in an adaptation of the young adult novel The City of Ember.
Why This Might Be Awesome:
The film adaptation is being done by Caroline Thompson who co-wrote the scripts for Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Plus, the plot description is as follows:
The script [is] about an insular, dark place where the only light comes from street lamps. As the power source begins to fail, two teenagers search for clues that will unlock ancient mysteries about the city but they are thwarted by a corrupt mayor.
Why I'm Ever-So-Slightly Afraid:
Murray's last few projects (Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, Broken Flowers) have left much (and I mean much) to be desired. Here's hoping his City of Ember is cooler and more successful.

I hope it turns out to be good! I loved him in Lost In Translation.
1I've read the book. If they stay close enough to the original story, it should be very very good. Its very dark and interesting. Good mystery. He is unlikely to have a very big role in the movie though. The two main characters are a young boy and girl about 12 years old.
2I LOVED the City of Ember! I hope the movie is good!
3I've read the books and thought they were fantastic! I can't wait to see what the movie adaptation will be like.
4I don't know this story, but I'll probably watch it because of Bill Murray.
5I also don't know Tale of Two Kitties. But I agree Broken Flowers left alot to be desired! Although a couple scenes were funny, I kept waiting for something to happen. Its too bad, I think the premise could have been good.
I'd rather watch Aquatic Life, all it takes are the smurfs hats in that to make me laugh.
Sounds interesting! I love Bill.
