I was so excited when ABC picked up Scrubs from NBC last year, because I thought that would give the show an opportunity to go out with the kind of finale it deserved. Well, that finale is just a week away now — and there's word that it might not be the end of the show after all.

This isn't the first time we've heard Scrubs renewal buzz, but it's starting to seem more serious, considering that ABC and Executive Producer Bill Lawrence are reportedly talking about budget and which cast members could return for a possible ninth season. Zach Braff has said this season would be his last, and several of the others (Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, and Neil Flynn among them) have been cast in pilots that are currently under consideration. But that wouldn't necessarily keep some or all of them from returning part-time, and the show does have a new crop of interns who could keep things going.
Scrubs hasn't exactly been going crazy in the ratings, but apparently it's been consistent enough that ABC might want to keep it around. And the Hollywood Reporter suggests that its renewal could mean good things for Better Off Ted, too, as there's talk of "possibly extending the pairing into next season." But would people keep watching Scrubs for another year — especially if the original cast members were only around occasionally? Has the show already told its best stories, or is there life in it yet?

I love this show but I think it would be hard for me to watch without the orginals, I would have to see. I hope they stick around though I love this show.
1I'd definitely give it a chance - as long as it had SOME of the original cast I'd probably be happy, but we'll just have to wait and see.
2i love this show but how much more can they do? i mean even with the new interns there is not much more to cover
3Hmm... if it does return, will it have the same feel without the core characters?
I agree with kgr3p18. This was one of my favorite shows during their earlier seasons, but sometimes shows just need to go when they're at their best, right?
4I'm going to miss scrubs sooo much... I love the show and I love the cast... I don't think it will survive with out the original cast... especially without Zach Braff... I mean scrubs without JD is like a tuna fish sandwich without the Tuna and without Turk too thats just freakin crazy...I
5I think if it ends now, it will go out on a high note, but if it continues, it will probably be a mistake. This season has been the best one in years and I think it's just because they're tying everything up. I love Scrubs, but I think it's time for it to go. That being said, if it continues, I'll probably at least check out the new version, although the possible loss of so many awesome cast members worries me.
6Arrested Development only has 3 seasons, but every single episode is amazing.
Scrubs is now at 8 seasons, and almost half of it is shrieky and not that funny, while the first seasons were hysterical.
Sometimes, better keep things short but good, instead of dragging them on and on.
7I'm a huge Srubs fan. I have the first 7 seasons on DVD. That said, I hope if they want to keep it around that they do kind of a spinoff type thing instead with a different cast. I think it is time for the core people to move on (and most of them have already made plans to do so). I hope ABC does pick up Better Off Ted though. It is really funny.
8I've loved the show since the beginning, especially the first few seasons where it was more true to life. I'm not sure if I want it to move on into yet another season though. I think it's run its course
9Scrubs is one of my favorite shows, and I think this Season has been amazing (I was not impressed with last Season, and was so happy to see it come back strong on abc). That said, I almost want to see them just end it on a high note after this Season. If the entire cast came back, I'd probably still watch and hope it would continue to have the writing and performances it's had this season. If they switch to a spinoff-ish version, I wouldn't be so interested. I love the show and the cast too much to be open to a partial or entirely new ensemble cast.
10i love scrubs. but this last season really hasnt hit the mark the others have. None of the characters have all been in it at one time like previous seasons. I think its just time to end it. Really wouldnt be worth it without JD and Turk.
11Ugh, no thanks. Hate that show.
12I really like this show, but I don't think I'd watch if it was the new cast. I don't really care for the new cast of interns.
13This show has stories to go, and more years with ABS, without which Scrubs wouldn't have a fair possible last season. As one of the fans, I generate revenue for ABC by buying brands they advertise during scrubs, and I'm not ready to part and I think Zach should give us one more season. It's like the opportunity that Jerry Seinfeld missed.
