While we're all still mulling Sunday's season finale of "The Sopranos," there's another buzzworthy HBO show set to make its return tonight: the Bill Paxton polygamy drama "Big Love."
I've just started getting caught up on the first season of this show, which centers on Paxton as a Utah businessman who seems shockingly normal for a guy who has three wives living in three separate houses. Already, I love the way the show mixes its unconventional setup with the very commonplace problems of raising children, succeeding at work and living a standard suburban life. The show seemed to gain momentum throughout its first year, and I'm excited to see what the producers have in store for us this season.
The return of the show also marks HBO's first attempt to put original programming on Monday nights since the final season of "Six Feet Under" in 2005. That show floundered in the weekday spot and ended up being moved back to Sundays, where it finished out its run. Though I selfishly wish "Big Love" were airing on Sundays with the rest of HBO's awesome shows, I hope it gets some attention on Monday nights. This is such a great show! We just caught up with last season in time for tonight's premiere!!!
1roman scares me! in a sexy kind of way... does that make me very weird?
2Yes! Very weird! {{shudder}}
3haha! oh come on... the cowboy hat? the guitar? the creepy/smouldering gaze? i'd hit that any day! besides, if he's right you get to be favorite wife in heaven or something, right?
4Love this show! I wish I didn't have to wait for the DVD...
5No thanks....
6Great episode
7I love the promo for the new season. Never watched the show, though. Maybe I'll rent season one and start from there. I'm not a Bill paxton fan though. I think he's kind of a dry actor. Is he better in this show?
8I totally missed it! Hopefully my dad tivoed it for me.
9I'm so glad "Big Love" is back!
I'm SO MAD that BL been kicked out of its old Sunday timeslot to make room for that new show "John in Cincinnati" - especially since the first episode was terrible. I'm willing to give it a few more episodes since it's from the "Deadwood" people, but that's it, HBO.
10LaLaLaurie - BP's dry acting works in Big Love, you'll see. It's worth watching
!
11The first episode of the 2nd season was even better than i expected.
