Apparently we're all invited to a Grey's Anatomy wedding. As we saw in this week's episode, Izzie is hard at work planning Meredith and Derek's May 14 wedding from her hospital bed, and ABC has even created a faux (but very real-looking) wedding website for the couple.

Written from Izzie's perspective, the site includes stories about Mere and Der, pictures from the elevator proposal, a planning blog, and even wedding advice from around Seattle Grace ("Champagne is good." — Arizona).
One very cool thing is the "registry" page, which is actually donation links for charities that have affected the Grey's characters. But overall, I can't decide if this idea is cute or creepy. On the one hand, it's fun and even has a few tidbits about the characters that I'm not sure we knew before, making it worthwhile for hardcore fans to read. On the other hand, well, this isn't a real wedding! So I'm putting it to you — how do you feel about it?

Net-a-Porter
The Office did the same thing for Andy & Angela's wedding ... which was hilariously edited when they broke up. I like it.
1I love viral marketing... what Sony did for "2012" is absolute genius.... its great how some people think these things are real...
2haha hokie i was just about to make the same point.
3I don't mind it since it's for a fictional wedding but I hate them for real ones.
4If you actually read the stuff that "Izzie" wrote, it's soooo obnoxious! Haha
5Hah I agree Kaykayelle, I just read all of it and it was pretty annoying
6That is so wrong.
7I certainly hope no one thinks this is a real wedding!
8It's kinda cute and clever, especially since it's "wedding season" all around.
9how is it creepy? lol, i think its cute, i love it.
10Its cute.
This was definitely the best part of it though: “I didn’t know where else to go with this because you either aren’t getting my voice-mails or you’re simply choosing to ignore them, but – I really am pregnant, Derek. It’s yours. And I have a lawyer… HAHAHAHA. I swear, that never gets old. EVER.â€

LOL!
11I think it's fine. It seems like a trend nowadays for this kind of thing - Andy and Angela on The Office, and although it was for a death, the memorial page on the House site for Kutner.
12The SGH guest book is actually kinda cute. It's funny to read Karev's commments... Although I found kinda weird no to see a Yang one. I know, I know, she's against this things, but it'd be fun to see what she'd had to say.
13I think it's funny! Reminds me of what The Office did for Angela and Andy.
14Love Grey's Anatomy, but maybe it's a little too much
15Ok, I saw the wedding site and it is really funny and kind of cute
16i didnt see how the one made for the office, but its kind of like the concept for kutners memorial
17This sort of thing is slowly becoming commonplace for TV shows and movies. It's a nice way to involve fans of the show.
18I'm not sure if it was the first show to do it but I remember when "Twin Peaks" was on & doing the "Who Killed Laura Palmer?" plot bookstores were selling her "diary"... It even had the gimick of being "real" by having blank pages read: (Page ripped out) & (entry as found), etc.
19-
Of course, once the murder of Laura Palmer was solved, people seemed to lose interest & it was canceled after the 2nd season.
I chose other, I think it's a bit over the top, but hey, maybe someone will actually donate to those charities, then it's a nice situation, kwim?
20I think the website is mildly creepy...but on the other hand, it is a creative way to advertise. And that's what it's really about, getting attention for the show, getting viewers to watch and pay attention, so I have to say good for them for coming up with an "out-of-the-box" idea to promote the show. And I think the gift registry where you can donate to the charities is a nice touch.
21it's adorable and nice that they've managed to put a plug in for charity!
22I'm ambivalent about it; don't mind the idea but think it's kind of a yawn. It doesn't seem that fresh and, therefore, not worthy of any buzz. Wow, that sounds a tad harsh.
23It's a little strange- who found this?
24Both! For fans its cool but for non-fans it's like "what?"
25I remember the Laura Palmer's diary thing! Thanks for reminding me. They've also published books related to storylines on As the World Turns, and How I Met Your Mother always has a website if they mention it on the show (e.g. TedMosbyIsAJerk.Com).
26I just checked out the wedding website, and the wedding date has been moved up to May 7th! Does that mean the finale will be then, too?
27Its just funny....not cute or creepy--funny
28It's only a web site, doesn't hurt anyone. It's cheesy. But cute...
29Let's just hope that the wedding happens without any drama (i.e. sandra oh's character from the 2nd (?) season)
