Don't be scared by the gruesome name or the hatchet-motif cover art. Matt Pond PA's new song, "If You Want Blood," is an energetic Summer anthem, heavily infused with orchestral strings, punchy tambourines, and swerving guitars.
Fans of Andrew Bird and The Shins should definitely give a listen to this roadtrip-worthy track, which will appear on the band's upcoming EP of the same name. Here's hoping the Brooklyn-by-way-of-Philly group's long-awaited sixth album follows soon. If you like this track, you should also check out "Magic Boyfriend" on the band's MySpace page. 3I liked "magic boyfriend" even more. Yay, I love hearing about new bands.
4oh my gosh! i have loved this band for like 2 years now. their amazing. Love! Love! Love!
5This band has come a long way since Deer Apartments in 1998. Their sound has changed, progressed, and with the constant shift in lineup changes, it is always evolving into something fresh. I've heard the ep in its entirity and its a strong release; a great taste of what is coming up on their full lenght which is due out in late September. My favorite track, Everything Until the East coast Ends is not the strongest on the EP but it is classic matt pond pa.
I've liked this band for over 4 years now and have seen them 14 times in 3 years. THough i do recommend getting this ep, if you are very interested in this band i'd go back and listen to earlier albums such as the green fury and nature of maps.
keep an eye on this band in the fall!
6I just bought the new ep today - it's sooo good!! My favorite track is probably Everything Until the East Coast Ends, but If You Want Blood is definitely a close second. Everyone should check out mppa, they definitely deserve more recognition than they've been getting.
