We're off to see the wizard! The wizard of . . . Friday Night Lights?
Yes indeed: One of the drama's writers is at work on a modern-day adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, with FNL producer Jason Katims on board to help. The project, called Dorothy Gale, is an hourlong drama being developed for NBC, and according to Variety, the plot goes like this:
Script follows the story of Dorothy, a girl from Kansas who tries to tackle modern-day Manhattan (her version of the Emerald City). Dorothy finds a job in the art world — and must deal with a wicked boss.
It's not the first Oz adaptation we've seen recently (see also: Tin Man, Wicked, an upcoming CGI movie, etc.), and a good number of you think this classic story should stop being messed with, stat. But with such a solid creative team in place, could Dorothy Gale be worth checking out?

I don't know about this, but if anyone can make this work, it's someone from FNL!
1this sounds cute! i love jason katims, i'll watch!
2I will check it out
3Sounds really cute...who doesn't love the Wizard of Oz?!
4I might watch this since it seems less like a straight remake than a kind of "based on" story.
5huh - this sounds interesting. i feel like every year there's always a show about a girl or family moving to NYC and trying to make good. we'll see what their take on the whole WoO thing will be.
6it sounds like Ugly Betty, if Betty where from Kansas and Wilhemina was her boss instead of Daniel
7Hollywood loves doing remakes... There seems to be more remakes and renditions than all out originals that are not a knock off of something older that people think others have forgotten.
8It would be interesting if it were set in a city other than NYC. I love the Big Apple as much as the next person, but enough already. EVERY show can't be set there and have the same overriding plot subject, right?
9oh dear god no. those people should be arrested.
