Well, it's official: The fanatical and kind of scary outpouring of rage — and nuts — over the cancellation of "Jericho" has actually changed the minds of the higher-ups at CBS! According to an open notice from CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler on CBS.com, the network has ordered 7 more mid-season episodes. Though touched by the incredible show of loyalty from "Jericho" fans, Tassler cautions that there will absolutely not be anymore episodes beyond the 7 unless the show's audience grows. Excerpts of the notice include:
Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.
A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow.
We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.
On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.
So, now these same fans will be putting their extreme energies into gaining a bigger "Jericho" audience? Yikes. I anticipate finding a pile of peanuts on my doorstep by morning.

yay! there's nothing worse than when a show you love gets cancelled and there is no closure to the storyline. even if this is only getting 7 more episodes, at least they will hopefully try to wrap things up a bit.
1Oh WOW! I can't wait to tell my husband - He will be thrilled
2If Jericho's been given another chance, I think Studio 60 should too! i know i'm probably the only one wanting this, but i love it.
3I don't get it. Why nuts? Does it have something to do with the show?
4Totally with you on that Woody!
5cool an encore of sorts!
6nuts, because the heads-up of CBS are nuts...
anyway... need the audience to grow??? I've seen a lot of shows that are worse and are still on air...
they just don't want to lose and say "well.. we were wrong, sorry" they keep canceling shows because maybe they don't know there's TiVo and Internet and a lot of things.
anyway YAY FOR JERICHO!!!
GO GO JERICHO, GO GO JERICHO
7"FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS WATCH KID NATION"
Nuts has something to do with the last episode and CBS has been swamped with some massive amount of nuts sent to them by fans. They are donating them now.
8YAY!!! I can't wait for the new season!!! YAY!
On the nuts comment, in the last episode Jericho is asked to surrender to the other town, New Bern. Jericho's response is "Nuts". So a lot of fans sent them nuts to tell them that they are being ridiculous and they will not surrender their favorite show to the networks "cancel-happy" forces.
9why did people send peanuts to the company?
10oooooooooh ok. .... they are crazy
11There was a story told in the show about a US WWII general, who's response to a request to surrender by the outnumbering Germans, was simply, "Nuts!"
Which is pretty apropos for the situation with the show.
12I think thats great letting the views speak WTG you guys who spoken.
13One of the fans, I think, is a peanut farmer? (has something to do with the peanut industry, at least) and sent literally TONS of peanuts to the studio exects in protest..lol.. A friend of mine who is a huge fan has all kinds of weird connections and told me about this. It's a pretty funny story actually.
