DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs. Aliens scored the best opening of the year over the weekend earning an estimated $58.2 million. The movie's success signals to studios that audiences don't seem to mind paying an extra few dollars for movies in 3-D.
Meanwhile, the super scary-looking horror flick The Haunting in Connecticut was No. 2, grossing an estimated $23 million, followed by Knowing. Most of you said you'd be off to see I Love You, Man this weekend and the comedy hung out in the top five at No. 4, followed by Duplicity.

My daughter wanted to go see this but as much as I love Reese I couldn't bring myself to go and sit through it.
1I can't wait until she is old enough to go see her own movies. That's why the kids movies do so well because the parents have to buy a ticket nad see it too!
i really wanted to go and see monsters but i didn't get to the movies this weekend. i'm really happy that it did so well though! it's the kind of movie that we need right now i think.
2Monsters Vs Aliens was awesome in 3D! It's not like a total kid movie, like 80% of the audience were adults and we were all laughing most of the time! It's a good movie!
3My kids went on Saturday with the neighbor to watch it in 3d, they loved it unfortunately i spent my money on I Love You Man, the movie sucked $18.00 and almost 2 hours I will never get back. My fiance normally likes those stupid movies and he thought it was as stupid as I did.
4I watched Monsters vs. Aliens this weekend and it was pretty funny. However, I think the 3D made me and my cousins feel a bit sick and nauseous.
