After posting the gorgeous-looking trailer for The Golden Compass — which stars Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and Eva Green, among others — I've been on the lookout for more news about the film. Now, HisDarkMaterials.org has posted a behind-the-scenes clip show from the making of The Golden Compass and it's pretty interesting.
Of course, it mostly consists of Eva Green swooping around on cables, while trying to act natural. But there are also clips of the actors on the empty stage followed by clips from the movie in which fantastical creatures and settings have been added. I seriously cannot wait to see this film, which is kind of a problem since it isn't opening until December.

That screenshot looks absolutely smashing. Nicole Kidman is perfect cast as that lady. Perfect blend of iciness and elegance.
1what is the story about? i've never read the books.
2LaLaLaurie — The story follows a 12-year-old girl who goes on an adventurous journey to save her friend who's been kidnapped. There's more to it than that, though, and the trailer really is amazing-looking. You can check it out here.

Are the daemons going to be in the film? I can't see them in the clips.

6I am so excited about this film! I think NK is perfectly cast, but I must say, I really pictured lee scoresby to be younger and visually he sorta looked like Sawyer on Lost. Also, I would hope the daemons are in it, they're pretty critical to parts of the book, wouldn't you think?
7Lol, yep Yum. But we know how these Hollywood studios can be - taking away the essence of the film. I just didn't see any in the clips, so I wondered if we'd see them.
8I'm pretty sure the daemons will be in the film; at the least they're featured on the movie's website where you can actually answer a bunch of questions and find out which daemon would be yours. It's actually pretty cool. Mine is an ocelot, which is so funny because that was my favorite animal at the zoo when I was younger (weird, but true).

9I took the quiz, and my daemon was a whippet. It struck me as such an odd choice. I loved this entire series and I am looking forward to seeing the movies. The shots look spectacular and the cast seems really good. The girl chosen to play Lyra is exactly how I pictured her.
