I've been monitoring some interesting casting news for a movie titled Special Relationship, about the Clinton White House, which will be written and directed by Peter Morgan (of Frost/Nixon). The project is the latest in a group of movies penned by Morgan — including The Queen — and it will "show how Bill's 'inappropriate relationship' with White House intern Monica Lewinsky nearly ended his time in power." Yowza, right? Morgan is associated with and respected for his personal, fictionalized portrayals of those in power, so this will most likely be more than a melodramatic retelling of the the former president's indiscretions.
Anyway, there have been lots of rumors about who's playing the ex-prez, but the latest is Dennis Quaid! Can you believe it? Supposedly, Russell Crowe, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alec Baldwin, and Tim Robbins were also in the running. Julianne Moore has been cast as Hillary Clinton, and Michael Sheen will once again play British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Now, Clinton is no stranger to having actors fill his shoes on the big and small screens (John Travolta played a character based on him in Primary Colors, and both Darrell Hammond and the late Phil Hartman portrayed him on Saturday Night Live) but I'm curious who you guys imagine playing Bill Clinton in a movie like this. Is it Quaid? Or is there someone else you picture in your mind forever and always as Bubba?

1I just can't see Dennis Quaid as Clinton, but it's funny - the husband from one of the host families during my hurricane semester at law school did Clinton impressions in his spare time and looked so much like him it was scary!

3If only Phil Hartman was still alive... woulda loved to see him as Bill on the big screen. But yeah, big fan of Darryl Hammond's portrayal, too... its a hard one though... i really can't think of any actors that "look" like him. I like Dennis Quaid... but... idk... this is a hard on.

4monica, hmmm Khloe Kardashian? she is portly enough.
5I don't think I can wrap my brain around Julianne Moore as Hilary. I would be interested to see what PSH does with the role, since he can disappear into parts when he wants to.
6that's mean to say about khloe - and to think that last night's episode of 'keeping up..' was similar to that.
as for who should play bill - i don't know - that's going to be a tough one. i don't think that dennis is quaint enough. i adore him and think he's sexy, but that's not how i think of bill.

Oh and Khloe as Monica... lol, i really can't think of anyone for her either... unless some stick thin actress wants an oscar by gaining a little weight to "get into the role"

9I agree, Darrell Hammond is spot on as Clinton.
10ummm Phillip would have to lose some weight, me thinks... I don't know- whoever can master the voice and the sex appeal. As much as some of us don't want to admit it, Clinton had a sex appeal when he spoke. If you EVER saw him in person you would know what I am talking about.
11Clinton does have a little sex appeal, but some of the actors mentioned seem too sexy/good looking. I think Tim Robbins would be a good choice, actually.
I am still not over Julianne Moore as Hillary! Really? They look nothing alike!
12tim robbins struck me as a good choice too, physically anyway. i can't imagine the charisma just yet...
