At midnight tonight, crowds of Twilight fans will be cheering (possibly at a release party) as they finally get Twilight DVDs in their hot little hands. It's an exciting weekend with the release of the Twilight DVD (and the movie will be available on Comcast OnDemand starting at 12:01 a.m., too), just as it was exciting when The Dark Knight finally came out back in December.
There's something about buying your favorite movie the day it's released on DVD. I geeked out when I preordered my Iron Man DVD, and I think I literally hopped to the register when I bought Zack and Miri Make a Porno (man, I'm a dork). Many of the Oscar-nominated films have recently come out on DVD — did you buy any of those on the day of release? Are you planning on picking up Twilight tomorrow? What other films have you bought right when they've hit shelves (or, you know, e-shelves)?

1I do buy DVDs on the first day of their release... depending on how excited I am about it... Don't care much for Twilight.
2Yes. Or at least in the first week of release. Target prices them much cheaper during the first week so I always get it there if I really want it. Otherwise, I wait a few weeks-months and get it previously viewed at Blockbuster. I'm cheap when it comes to dvds.
The last dvd I got the day it came out was Happy-Go-Lucky. I've been dying to watch it again but haven't had the time. I also bought Milk for my mom that day too.
3Yes or at least during the first week when they are on sale at best buy. Sometimes if i really want the movie i go to a place near me that has them a week or two early but they are a lot more expensive, like 29.99 vs best buys 16.99 or 19.99. Depends on the movie
4really, i find twilight to be so overrated.
5Very rarely. I think I bought Grey's season 2 the day it came out.
6I preordered 'Across the Universe' from Amazon.

8i've been known to pre-order DVDs, and i'll DEFINITELY be getting Twilight tomorrow - i've already made that abundantly clear to everyone who knows me. it's really funny because when the movie first came out i had NO desire to see it, and once i did, i got hooked on it and read all 4 books in a matter of 4 days .

12The only thing I've ever gotten on THE release date were Seasons 1 and 2 of The Tudors.

16I don't think I ever have but this morning I woke up early on a Saturday to get to the store right at 8am when it opened!
17I didn't think I was young enough to go to the party at Borders the night before-it would have been me with a bunch of teenagers.
I was suprised at how many people were also at the store early to get their copy of Twilight!
I just watched it 2x (ones with rob,kristen, and catherine talking over it) and then the 2 bonus discs that came with the dvd I bought at Target ( I guess the others are only 2 disc).

I didn't know what Twilight was until a friend of mine got all excited about it & was telling me she'd read all the books! I don't usually buy them when first released. I'd REALLY have to be a HUGE fan before I'd do that b/c of my budget.
18care0531 i too waited till today at 8 am to get the twilight dvd, but the reason i did it was that i wanted the one from target because i knew it came with an extra dvd and it came with the itunes download (but i didn't know about the itunes download till i bought it) and target was not having a midnight release party hahaha.
19Hmm, I think the last time I did this, DVDs didn't exist, which means I was about 12 or 13. So no, not any time in the last 11 or 12 years!

Except that for new album, I had to wait a couple of weeks because I had to work through my lunch-breaks and until the shops were closed.
21if i waited until Twilight was available on netflix, i would be waiting forever to see it....so i got it on demand. i really liked it, so i decided to buy it. i already have all 4 books, so might as well get the dvd right???
22My dad rented Twilight for me this weekend, since I was sick & I loved it! I dragged myself out of bed to go get all four books and now I'm going to go buy the DVD...a little fixated I guess!
23I bought the books because it was IMPOSSIBLE to get them from the library!
24I have picked up a few movies on their release dates, I'm not big on the whole midnight release thing... I can usually wait. I got my copy of Twilight early Saturday morning
