We've followed the rumors about George Clooney's return to ER. We've glimpsed him back in scrubs. And tonight, we'll see Clooney again as Dr. Doug Ross in the role that made him a breakout star.
It's all part of a star-studded episode that features the return of not just Clooney but Julianna Margulies, Eriq LaSalle, and more doctors and nurses from County General's staff. I'm not going to lie — I maybe got a little chill when I saw the promo with LaSalle doing his little arm-pump thing in the hallway. Just really takes me back, y'know?
The episode is appropriately called "In Times of Old." NBC is being cagey about what exactly brings Ross and Hathaway back to Chicago (in fact, they're avoiding saying the name "Clooney" at all, referring to the guest star only as "the doctor Hathaway married"). Guess we'll find out tonight, but for now, watch a sneak peek of Benton's appearance over here, and to check out a preview of the whole episode, just read more.

I watched ER, religiously back in the day, and i stopped watching after season 4, when it got monotonous and boring. Seeing the promos for the finale, didnt do anything for me except make me yell "kill the thing already!" good riddance to bad tv.
1This was my very favorite show for the longest time. I had stopped watching it recently, though, because I just couldn't connect to the new docs. When I heard all the old docs were coming back, I started watching again this season. I have chills just thinking about this!!
2I loved this show back in the day. I caught last week's episode and will watch the remaining episodes just to say I watched them. But I am excited to see the old docs coming back... wonder if the are going to work Anthony Edwards in somehow.

4I still remember when this show was amazing instead of amazingly bad. For me all the best of ER was in the Doug and Carol relationship and I will be watching tonight for the first time in *years*!
5Seriously, I haven't watched this show since high school...which was a long time ago for me.
6just like the rest of you, I used to watch ER religiously. About the time that Carol left, the show just went downhill, although I maintain that the episode "Such Sweet Sorrow", when she goes to Seattle and sees Doug at the end (which was a huge surprise) is one of the best episode ever. Tonight's wasn't so spectacular as a story line, but for people who miss the good old days, it was awesome
7I haven't watched this show in many years but I am watching tonight's episode so I can see all of the original cast members.
8Wow that's just reminded me that ER used to be a good show, back in its first seasons! I loved Eriq LaSalle and Julianna Margulies!
9i also stopped watching after all the old cast left....i couldn't follow the whole Noah Wylie-Abby-Sexy Foreign Doc (who's name i can't remember!)-love triangle. i hated seeing Doug & Carol leave and Mark dying...that was a tear jerker! i even liked Kellie Martin.
i started DVR-ing this season, jsut to see my favs!
10I stooped watching after Doug & Carol were no longer in the series together. I'll be watching this epi for old times sake
