Today's news about Leighton Meester landing her first movie role since the start of Gossip Girl got me thinking about TV stars whose talents could translate well to films. Apparently I'm not the only one on that train of thought these days, as the New York Times just named several TV actors whom they think could make the leap to the big screen.
I agree with the Times story — and with George Clooney himself, who's quoted in it — that Eric Dane of Grey's Anatomy seems to have the right look and style for the big screen. His Grey's costar, Katherine Heigl, has already proven that she can make some serious box office cash. But sometimes the breakout film stars surprise me — like Slumdog Millionaire's Dev Patel, who got his start on the British show Skins.
So, what about you? Which TV folks do you think could hold their own in movies?

On The Office note, Jenna Fischer would be good too.
8I agree with MelX, Cobie from HIMYM would be awesome in movies. She is equally gorgeous and hilarious.

10Taylor Kitsch – I agree with the NY Times that with Wolverine coming out this year, he is going to be huge.
Kyle Chandler – Hell, why not? He was great in King Kong, playing a screen idol, so we know he’s got the looks AND the ability to pull it off.

11I like and agree with everyone on the New York Time's list. I was so surprised to see Bill Hader on it.
I think Yvonne Strahovski from Chuck and James Roday from Psych could do well in movies.
12Jenna Fischer...she's done some lame movies so far, but I think she's a great comedic actress.
13I knew it. Zachary Quinto can now add movie star to his credits. Star Trek was awesome!
