Turns out the rumors are true about Dakota Fanning's involvement in the next Twilight movie, New Moon. Back in January, EW reported that Fanning had been offered a role, and now it's official: Fanning will play Jane, "a sinister vampire with an angelic exterior who works for the Volturi." I wonder if this means they'll be beefing up the Volturi sequences in Italy for the movie, which I think might be a wise choice.
For some reason, as I read New Moon I kept picturing Kirsten Dunst's little vampire role in Interview With a Vampire as Jane. But Fanning is certainly good at angelic and sweet-seeming. I bet she'll have fun with this role. Thoughts, Twilight fans?

4Hmm, not sure how I feel about this. I kind of wish they would have kept casting lower list actors and actresses-it is hard not to think of established actors OTHER roles while watching the movie. For whatever reason, I really had Jodelle Ferland in mind for the role of Jane. But Dakota will be great, I'm sure.

10I think it's okay - the only "problem" (it's nothing major at all) I have is that I pictured Jane to be younger than Dakota - but if she plays the part well I will probably forget that

18I love Dakota Fanning and I'm sure she'll do a really great job. I had hoped (like some others said) that they'd use lesser known actors and actresses but I guess not.

22I can so picture her as Jane! I kept thinking of Kirsten Dunst too, but in 'Breaking Dawn' I got the impression that Jane and Alec (that's her twin, right?) were a little older than Kirstens' "Interview" character was. Dakota should be the perfect age.

25I really like Dakota, its just that i think they should have casted new and unknown actors and actresses. It would have probably been a better outcome and better for the fans and the people that are completely and utterly rude about the whole situation.
26I think she'll do a fine job. Jane is creepy and sadistic and I don't doubt Dakota will do a fine job. She's a fine actress and something tells me she can pull off the wicked and spoiled Jane quite well.
27I think Dakota is such a strong actress that I am excited to see her in this role. I do imagine her looking a little younger though... so maybe they will make her seem smaller or something, since her face is still young enough (I think)... I am excited because this seems different enough from her recent roles that I want to see what she can do with it. I hope they stick close to the book as much as possible, but that doesn't seem to bother me as much when they get creative with casting...
