I keep seeing ads for Eli Roth's latest horror film Hostel: Part II and it looks horrifying... but not necessarily in the fun Halloween kind of way. The story follows three college girls who are lured into a "hostel" where men pay to torture them. Maybe I'm just not really a torture/blood/guts kind of gal. What do you think?

I say..maybe
1my boyfriend made me see the first one and I hated every second of it, you couldn't pay me to see this
2I didn't see the first one and the only reason, I'd want to see this one is the backstory of how this whole thing got started. I can probably get that from a co-worker who would definitely watch it. lol I'll probably just read spoilers on the internet. Just not that into torture films. Although, I love horror - this is more in the way of "this could happen in real life" type of movie.
3I saw the first one and thought it was pretty stupid, but I noticed that this one had Quentin Tarintino's name on it? That might change things. Unless he had something to do with the first one too. If he did, then I'll pass. Otherwise I might give it a shot.
4I think QT did, radarkitty. I think he might have been a producer.
5I never saw the first one. I LOVE horror movies, but to me there is something sick about watching people get tortured. I have no desire to see that. The Jessica Biel version of Texas Chainsaw really scared but that was even a little too much torture for my liking. I like supernatural stuff. Stuff that I don't believe could actually happen, you know? I don't want to be reminded of the sickos out there nor do I want them inspired.
6No thanks, Sounds more like fetish porn.
7I'm with Katiefrog and mizmode on this one. I was raised on horror films (my Dad showed me "The Howling" when I was 5) and I love them, but the whole Torture thing just is not my cup of tea. Nor is gore for gore's sake, and Eli Roth is very much a "shove as moch gore in there as we possibly can" kind of guy. Some people like that stuff, so more power to him making movies for those people, but me? I'll pass. The "re-imaging" of Halloween and Michael Myers however? Cannot wait!
8Scary
9ugh. i hate all these movies, and i hate that the new craze in horror movies and crime shows and even music is to see how much torture can be inflicted on young women. it's horrid and depressing--no matter how far we may go, there's always something there to remind us just exactly what the patriarchy thinks of us. utterly wretched and i hope it bombs, but something tells me it won't.
10i love thrills and movies that play with your mind... not ones that show some getting their mind ripped out from behind their eye... i have no desire to see that gore.
11I hate horror movies. I saw the 1st one b/c my bf really wanted to see it and I figured it couldn't be that bad. Ya right! That movie was so gross and scary. I hated that movie so much. I closed my eyes for about 1/2 the movie. You couldn't pay me to see this one.
12I thought the first one was terrible. Too gross and too "this could possibly happen in real life.." I might see this one if I get bored, but I could defintely not see it and be absolutely fine with it.
13Katiefrog: I love a good ghost story. Ghost Ship, Stephen King's Rose Red, Thirteen Ghosts to name a few.
Lisara: When is that movie coming out?
14Lucky for me.... my friend has a bootleg copy and I'm watching it tonight.
15the first one was interesting to say the least, I'll probably still watch the second
16mizmode — I've been vaguely following news about the new Halloween remake because I thought I had time before it came out (I figured it would be released around, you know, Halloween), but apparently it's out on Friday August 31! Yahoo has some info and photos. Rob Zombie's directing. It really looks like it'll be good!
17This kind of complete and utter crap insults the intelligent. I weep for the future. When did kidnapping and torture become entertainment? SICK, perverted and stupid. Sorry--but you have to be a moron to enjoy that sh*t.
18QT did produce both films. To whomever asked this whole thing got started as an idea when QT read in a newspaper in the orient somewhere an AD about paying 10k to see someone get tortured and they got their idea. ALthough it says based on a true story they never verified the Ad. Regardless, I love scary, suspenseful movies, but torture for the sake of torture does not interest me so I passed then, and pass again now.
It also starts exactly where the first one left off with Jay Rodriguez (I think that is the actor's name) getting on or being followed on a train, since I did not see the first one -- less interest in the sequel.
19I thought it was a website. That him and Eli Roth viewed the site and it kept Eli R. up all night for days and he couldn't stop thinking about it. And when they went to view the site again, it was gone.
Hmm, this could have been a whole publicity stunt!
20I was too much of a scaredy cat to see the first one.
21I never saw the first one and have no intention of EVER seeing it. Ucky!
22buzz...thanks for the update on the halloween remake! i'm in love with the old one so i hope the newer one doesn't turn out to be lame.
btw...
i heard that hostel was inspired by the writer hearing about some website [?] where you can go to thailand and pay some amount of money to shoot somebody in the head.
crazy!
23here's one of the articles about the inspiration: http://www.timeout.com/film/news/463.html
24Thanks, ddene5713!
25Thanks BuzzSugar for the link to the pics. Sorry, I didn't include both thanks in one comment.
26mizmode... no prob.
here's another article about it and they go into further detail:

27Weird, just weird!A documentary. Yea, he's lucky he didn't do that. lol Thanks, ddene5713.
28no. i hate torture/gore movies. it makes me sick. like the hills have eyes? i was very much pissed at my boyfriend for making me go with him to watch it. disgusting.
29Thanks girls, that shows how much my mind can absorb.... nada. Eli Roth -- check! Internet -- check! Still not going to see it though.
30I refuse to give money to this type of thing.
31I love cheesy horror flicks--probably because I'm also a huge MSTK3 fan!
32i liked the idea for the first one, but i dont see why he had to drag out the torture. besides, ive always planned on traveling europe staying in hostels, and this might thwart my plans.
33I hated the 1st one so I will def stay away from this one
34I would pay not to see that movie.
35i'm sorry but i find this EXTREMELY DISTURBING
3 college GIRLS getting totured by MEN who PAID.......
F*UCKED UP
i seriously feel like puking now
and for the people that want to go see these sort of things...
36i really dont't know what to say...
so for those of you who are interested in seeing this could you tell me why...?
seriously i really would like to know...
just to know..
ya know?
not to start any wars or anything lol
37i'm just genuinely curious
