Even when competing with a Jonas Brothers 3-D extravaganza thingy, Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail did not falter during its second weekend in theaters and scored the top spot at the box office again.

Disney's Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience was expected to win the weekend partly because of the extraordinary success of last year's Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour. The Jonas Brothers' movie earned an estimated $12.7 million and is considered a disappointment in comparison to the estimated $29 million that Miley's movie debut earned.
Meanwhile, Variety reports that Slumdog Millionaire "enjoyed the biggest post-Oscar bounce since Titanic at the domestic box office, grossing an estimated $12.2 million as it boldly expanded to 2,943 runs in its 16th sesh."

i guess that i was among the many that went to see SM after the oscars. it was FINALLY available at the theater that i go to - and i saw it and completely understand what the hype was about.
1I can't believe anyone would pay to see these, much less see them at all. (I don't mean SM)
seriously?
just wait until Friday
2This is great, congrats Mr. Perry.
3I am really happy for Tyler Perry. He seems like such a wonderfully grounded individual. Perry went from living in his car, writing and starring in stage plays, to creating hit movies. I don't think people realize just how successful his plays have been or how large a following Tyler Perry has.
4Here is good article about Tyler Perry that discusses his career.
"I’m really only beginning to wrap my brain around how Hollywood can be so insulated from the rest of the world. There is Hollywood and then there is New York — and then America is in the middle. I’ve been to every major city in this country, with the exception of the Dakotas, I think, and we would sell shows out — 30,000-40,000 people a week coming in the doors. People find this hard to believe, and most of it was sold by e-mail before we even got to the city. I have the box-office record at the Kodak (Theater, in Hollywood). I had 18 or 19 shows there that have all sold out."

I haven't seen it yet but congrats to Mr. Perry. I liked the stage plays a little better but The Family That Preys was great.
6"The Jonas Threat"
7Now that's an oxymoron.
